I am different myself, and this book is the perfect eye-opener for run-of-the-mill peeps who continually look down on me and
those like me. This author is incredibly insightful; I wonder if he is different himself or just a very intuitive, empathic
man. Regardless, I would love to meet him and/or see more of his work.

This is a great devotional and study Bible. The notes are plainly written, applicable and often present ideas that other study
Bible's miss. Very thoughtful. I use it every day for my devotional time and I often use the notes when I am developing my
sermons. They give such a fresh take on the Scriptures. I love it!! You'll just have to try it for yourself.

For free verse poetry to be memorable it must be original, passionate, emotional, honest, and deftly expressed. Enter Ramona
E. Armato and "Do You See Me Now?", a slender, 80-page book of impressive lyrical prose and deftly executed poetry that takes
as its diverse subject matter her difficult childhood, life's heartaches, good times and ill, and a faith that helped her
cope with it all. `Comfort Zone': You may say my heart is still wandering/Into depths of this and that.//You may say it cries
in the middle of a/long, cold night.//My heart has a place today;/Yet even then it bears some scars.//You may say my soul
can't test/Without a prayer to pray.//You may say my soul years/For the warmth of a summer's day.//I know this comfort zone
- it is my compassionate friend:/my heart, my soul, my friend.

Time Traveling to the Black Pest!

Ms. Willis has done a wonderful job with this book. Hugo and Nebula prizes were deservedly bestowed to this work.
Time travel is a classic sci-fi subject and there are different possible approaches. The author chooses to research in depth the time period involved and that is a big plus. The medieval environment is presented to the reader with accurate strokes.
Even if the story is a little slow to fully develop, after you pass the first hundred pages you are hooked and incapable to put this book down.
Ms. Willis draw a parallel between past and present (future actually as present is year 2050), confronting a deadly epidemic situation in two different time periods.
Characters are fully developed and show human depth. The reader is introduced to the intimate perceptions of many of them. Self sacrifice vs. selfishness; true deep religious belief vs. superficial self serving religious attitudes; human foolishness vs. humanitarian procedures are described in a gripping way.
The dark background is mitigated by an underlying sense of humor that softens most dreadful scenes.
Time travel is presented in a very coherent way, avoiding paradoxes and silly conflicts that spoil other novels.
A book that may be enjoyed by sci-fi and fantasy adepts as well as people interested in historical novels.

This really is one of the best Bibles available. It is beautifully bound which for the cost is extraordinary.
It does not have anything like the rosary, or other "specials". What it does have, is 3 different papal encyclicals on the Scriptures. These give a fantastic explanation of the inspiration of Scripture and why we should be reading & believing Scripture that I have ever had.
There are a number of art prints in the center in the style of old family Bibles.
I can't say enough good about this Bible. The main thing that I see in it, that is different from other Douays, (in addition to the above) is that the quality is much better. They have used the best of everything, to make this an heirloom quality edition.
There are many points which can be illuminated by reading this Bible. One example which I found interesting is that the garden of eden (which isn't even called that in this translation, Eden the word is translated in this version to "paradise") is mentioned to have been the area between Ethiopia and Mesopotamia rather than just the later. This is very interesting as this really eradicates the conflict between the bible and the current evidence we have of the earliest existing human beings which were possibly African. If the gestation period for the human race was this expansive fruitful area, Moses knew that the first human beings were African in origin. How did he know this?
That cannot be explained by science how he knew this information. This is a beautiful, stunning bible, which sheds light on the beautiful stunning bible it is a perfect translation of (the Latin Vulgate).

This edition of the Douay Rheims Bible is a large size - ideal as a family Bible, and also for as a wedding gift.
The Douay Rheims is one of my favorite translations. In this edition, the text is really clear as it has been increased in size from the original standard sized edition.
I love the beautiful, poetic language, and the very Catholic words--note Luke 1:28 And the angel being come in said unto her: Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed are thou among women.
Overall, this is the Bible each family should have on the shelf.

This is the only bio on this gentlemen. During his life H. Roe Bartle was a well respected scout executive, head of the
Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity, founder of Mic-O-Say scouting honor society, and mayor. The Kansas City Chiefs
are named in his honor, not after American Indians. If you want to learn more about The Chief, this is the book to get.

Set out in alphabetical order and written without fear or favour, the United States Department of Defence have provided one of the most important research tools of modern years and I congratulate them for an excellent job of work. The entry for each ship commences with a note about the origin of the name. For example, the USS Missouri is named after an American state - enough said. The Aaron Ward, however, was named after Admiral Aaron Ward and that particular section commences with a most reasonable biography of the man.
Each ship to bear a particular name is covered in varying degrees of detail - largely dependant on what historical information was available to the compilers. Famous ships and, naturally, more recent vessels, get excellent coverage although it must be said that if the information was available on those much older vessels, then their full story is told here.
Watch out for single volumes being sold separately - when you are either looking for a complete set or perhaps a different volume.
Altogether, one of the best additions to my library for a very long time.
