Purchased this as a gift for a young teen growing in her faith. This particular study Bible is an excellent tool for those seeking to grow and develop their faith. The commentaries flow along with the Biblical text, generally on the same page so that one does not have to flip forward or back or to another book. Explanations are concise, easy to understand, and not over-whelming. The concordance is a real help to find certain and particular Biblical passages. The introductory sections before each book of the Bible are a tremendous help in further understanding the impact of the written Word. While the notes and commentaries in the Concordia Self-Study Bible are specific with Lutheran doctrine, they are general enough not to be sectarian. Overall, this particular Bible is a terrific tool for any Christian.

If you have any interest in Depression-era art, this is a must read. Frank Long's writing style flows smoothly and makes for an absorbing and entertaining experience. Full of humerous anecdotes, this book evokes the period eloquently.
The author is my father (deceased, 1999), but I would have said all these things even if I had no relation to him.

John Hopper told me in 1982, there were only 3 master saddle makers in the United States. To acquire that status he said you need the working knowledge of silver smithing, leather work and wood carving. He had mastered all three skills and was one of the three remaining master saddle makers in the United States. After I finished the preprint production of this book, I told John that I think I could make a saddle now. This book is rare and complete in its instruction. The hand drawn patterns and detailed photos were produced by Mr. Hopper, who was an American treasure.

Crossing St. Gotthard is a delicately written, subtle work, a story of a family travelling by train to Italy. In this and in all his other writings, Mr. Leavitt's grasp of language never ceases to amaze me. I'm addicted to words; I always lose myself in his prose and descriptions. Take care in reading his writing; it'll keep you up all night, reading! This work is a letterpress edition, personally my first purchase from a letterpress. A worthwhile, welcome addition to my LARGE book collection.

Having owned the previous edition, I bought the revised edition just after it came out recently, and certainly its been improved since the last edition. From the aesthetics point of view, the size is larger, but the book is now actually thinner, making it easier to handle and the corners are rounded.
Now there is the Motu Proprio Summorum Pontificum at the beginning aswell. It really is nice to see that the Missal is being updated with such important documents and the Imprimatur has been renewed.

Those of you who regularly pray using the Book of Common Prayer probably know all about this set. Two volumes contain all of the contents of the 1979 BCP (one volume for Year 1 and one volume for Year 2). Why two volumes? Because also included are all of the scripture readings for the year! Yep -- you don't have to juggle the Bible and the BCP on your lap. Very handy, especially if you're out and about. Ribbon markers hold your place, and a slip-case keeps the volumes neat on the shelf.

A daily missal complete with the morning, noon time and evening prayers, prayers before and after mass, May devotion to Our Blessed Virgin, The Holy Rosary, The Way of the Cross, Novenas etc... I really would not know what to do if I didn't have this missal.
