I HAVE OWNED THREE COPIES OF THIS MASTERPIECE BY DANIEL MARCH. WITHOUT A DOUBT, THIS IS THE BEST BOOK I HAVE EVER READ, EXCEPT FOR THE BIBLE. DANIEL MARCH HAD TO HAVE HAD A SPECIAL RELATIONSHIP WITH THE " HOLY SPIRIT." THIS GIFTED WRITER HAS A WAY OF TRANSPORTING YOU INTO EACH SCENE. I FEEL I HAVE REALLY VISITED THE HOLY LAND AND WALKED WITH EACH PERSON IN "THE NIGHT SCENES."
I STILL OWN ONE COPY AND WISH I COULD FIND FIVE MORE FOR MY CHILDREN'S CHILDREN.

This is a great portable bible if you want a high-quality, easy to carry edition. The NIV is not my favorite translation (I prefer RSV Catholic Edition including the Deuterocanonicals) or the NASB for a protestant translation (both are literal word-for-word translations). However, this is a nice bible and the NIV is a good balance of easy to read vs. accuracy.

The only one warning I have is that the text on these editions are VERY small in order to accomodate the size of the bible itself. This is fine for quick readings on the go, at work, at a bible study, etc. However, if you are planning to sit and read for hours, I suggest looking at a larger edition. This one is specifically geared to be easily portable with very little size or weight.

This bible is just beautiful. It's handy, and it fits a small pocket in my backpack, so I can virtually carry it anywhere. I dropped by a local bookstore and saw that it comes with other cover designs/colors. It also makes for a decent-looking gift.

Probably the only down side is the text size, but I guess that's something I have to live with if I opt for portability.

This is my second Bible of this version. I have worn out the first one, but like most Bibles the map pages start falling out in the back, and I have an excuse to buy a new one after many years. This giant print is incredibly easy to read and you dont have all the of center margins, if you dont like center margins as I don't. I have many Bibles and this continues to be my favorite and personal Bible. It is such a pleasure to read.

This Bible was exactly what i wanted according to the description on Amazon!..the print is as large as it says and the leather on the outside is very nice..i have received alot of compliments at church on this Bible and others wondering where i got it from..Thanks Amazon once again!

The Life Application Bible is a great way to study the Bible...many great helps to explain sections and make good applications. The NIV version of the Bible is easy to read while maintaingin the original meaning.

I really like this Bible. The translation is very easy to read (no "thou shalt"s) and cross-references to other passages as well as questions and explainations about what you're reading to help you understand the subject at hand better. Jesus' spoken words are in red also.
I really recommend this Bible, and for even faster look-up the thumb-indexed version also.

I've been to many Christian bookstores, purchased (and returned) a few bibles online, talked to friends, scoured publishers websites, read many reviews (including the Christian Research Institute and How to Choose a Translation for All Its Worth: A Guide to Understanding and Using Bible Versions), and have finally concluded and found THE best-of-the best study Bibles currently available and THIS is it.

The NIV is the most read and most trusted Bible translation today. The Life Application Study adds helpful introductions to each book, timelines, statistics, overviews, megathemes, verse-by-verse notes, explanatory notes, maps, charts, diagrams, profiles of Bible people, and background on the time between the two testaments. This Bible uses the NIV cross reference system and includes an index and dictionary/concordance. This Bible's text is in an easy-to-read single column format while the verse-by-verse notes are in a smaller, different text in two columns at the bottom of each page. Additional explanatory notes and profiles are set apart nicely as well. The words of Jesus Christ are in red letter.

Although the description does not say so, this specific item has BOTH the higher grade genuine leather cover AND the indexed thumb tabs with the abbreviations of the books to make them easier to find. It is burgundy with golden-gilded page edges. The ISBN is 0310934028 and the Amazon discount price of $57 on a retail price of $89.99 cannot be beat.

If there were one book I would hope everyone could own, this would definitely be it!

I was in need of a new Bible to take to church with me that was simple and easy to read. The size of this one is perfect-- not too big, not too small. I really like that the words of Christ are in red and I like that it's pretty also! Great purchase!!

I bought this as a gift for my niece's baptism. I love the NIV version which makes it such an easy read, especially for an 8-year old. I chose the pink imitation leather which is simply ideal for her. I also had the cover engraved with her name, in its own silver print- a special added touch from Auntie.

I spotted this tiny version of the Holy Bible in a local bookstore and I fell in love with it at once. This is ideal gift for your beloved ones.

This Bible was ordered as a memorial for a minister in our church. It is perfect. The binding is thick and elegant (we ordered red). The type is big enough to be read in the more subdued light of the church. I recommend this bible to anyone who wants an heirloom book.

This Pulpit Bible in NRSV is of excellent quality, with large print and non-transparent pages. I was fully satisfied in all ways, with the text, the binding, with the general appearance, and with the overall quality. I did not know that books were still made with this excellent quality of materials and workmanship and attention to detail.

Old Leather provides an intimate glimpse at pro football's early days. In the tradition of Larence Ritter's baseball classic "The Glory of Their Times," this book provides first person accounts from players, coaches, and executives from the NFL's first two decades. From Hall of Famers like Dutch Clark, Fritz Pollard, and Link Lyman to relatively unkown figures like Ike Roy Martin and Cyrus Kahl, all of the stories are fascinating. Until the mid-thirties, Ohio was the center of the pro football universe, and the interviews that Chris Willis has collected provide a unique insight to that time and place. For anyone interested in football history, this book is indespensible.

For football fans and general football buffs this is a great book. Not many books touch on early pro-football with such knowledge of the game. Great quick read!

This is one of the best football books I have ever read. Well worth the money spent. Unfortunately, the history of football infancy has been largely ignored over the last several decades. Old Leather has actually unearthed interviews from the men who created the NFL we know today - and all it all happened, largely, in Ohio. There's no filter here, just the actual words of pioneers like Fritz Pollard, the first African-American to play and coach in the NFL and graphic accounts of the brutal, masochistic violent nature of football before it was "civilized" for mass consumption. No football library is complete without a copy of Old Leather on shelf.

This is a great study Bible but the ribbon stinks! You need to buy some fray-chek from a fabric store (sewing) and dab some on the end of your ribbon or it will fray in no time! I sent two back for this reason, one to the manufacturer and I put this on as soon as it came in the mail and have had no more problems. Great study Bible though, my son loves it!

If you're looking for a good classic study Bible, the Scofield Bible is for you! It's great for the beginner and older Christian as well. This edition has a bonus- the Bible on CD (Libronix Digital Library) that took only about 5 minutes to install. (I must admit that I haven't had the time to explore the CD though, so I don't know all it has to offer.)

Includes 3 thick blank pages at front AND back of Bible for your own notes. Bible helps/notes include over 250 pages: Concordance, Subject Index, Proper Names, Indexed Atlas, and 12 pages of maps. Words of Christ in red. Very helpful introductory notes to each book of the Bible, includes a general outline of each book. Sometimes rather lengthy footnotes on history and crossreferences to further enhance Bible study.

The Burgundy Genuine Cowhide is a little veiny- it has deep veins in the shiny leather, instead of a soft matte-like look that I expected. The Bible initially seems a little stiff, but I suspect that it will loosen up over use.

On the down side it only has 1 Bible ribbon/bookmark. The margins are average size leaving not a lot of room for you to write in your own notes. Margins where pages meet look especially small, however a fine amount of room at the bottom and top of pages, and (sometimes) in the center column (when few printed notes allow).

* On a side note- the Bible I received with this ISBN has a different box that the red box pictured, it was blue and did NOT say "old" scofield on it(not sure if that matters though), and did not have the picture of Mr. Scofield on the bottom left hand corner.

The author is able to express common thoughts, struggles and beliefs of many Christians and align them with God's Word. This devotional only takes about 5 - 10 minutes per day to read both the Scripture and commentary, but I still find it to be interesting and challenging. I like the way Tiegreen often stays with one passage of Scripture for several days. I plan to read this again next year. I have given it several times as a gift.

This is my second year with a Chris Tiegreen devotional. I enjoy 'the simple nuggets'. The messages are thought-provoking, but not too deep. This is a great book. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a daily spiritual boost. I gave more than 20 of these books as Christmas gifts; the receivers like it too.

Excellent devotional. Chris Tiegreen does an excellent job with depth and balance of scripture. Most one year devotionals are on the shelf by now- not this one. I have gifted several of these to friends who have enjoyed them as much as I do.
