The Best Youth-Oriented Bible That I Have Found
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2005-11-03
My wife and I minister to the young male and female inmates at a local Youth Detention Center (YDC). These kids are in for everything from armed robbery to sex crimes. So, needless to say, a very different type of witnessing tool was necessary for this ministry.

I had read and researched a lot of Bibles, and I finally settled on this one as my main witnessing tool. Here is why:

While ministering to these kids, I have found that these youngsters truly ARE the visual generation, and NOTHING turns them off faster than trying to read (and DECIPHER) a standard 2-column or 4-column dull-looking, boring-looking, black-on-white print Bible.

BUT, with this Bible, the colors and the pictures and the generally edgy feel of the book as a whole really catches their eyes and makes them WANT to dig in and start reading. Every Bible on this earth is of no value if you cannot get them to OPEN it and READ it!

Having worked with these youth, I have found that most of them may be 15 - 16 years old, but they read at 11 - 12 year old level! For this reason, I always stress to the kids that, while this Bible is written to the younger mind, it does NOT talk DOWN to them in any way shape, or form! This, too, is critical in ministering to them, as they will reject anything that smacks of being too authoritarian to them. It is that very rebellion against any kind of authority that landed them in the YDC in the first place!

Because of this book, we have not only had the young inmates come to Christ, but we have also had members of the YDC STAFF come to Christ as well! What a Blessing this has been!

For all these reasons, I cannot recommend this book highly enough!

Although this Bible may have been written for the target group of 18-30 year olds, it serves well for older people too. The layout, details, and graphics truly enhance the reading experience for all.

This is a lovely Bible. The colorful graphics, page layouts, and inserts are appealing to the younger age groups (adults too) and really draw the reader in. The language is clear, easy to read, and easy to follow especially if you are familiar with the traditional KJV. I took one look through it at my local Borders and just had to take it home with me. If you have children, this would make an especially nice gift Bible (I wish I had received one like this back then). I would also recommend this Bible to youth group leaders or youth Bible study groups. As a former youth group leader, this would have been my Bible of choice. The only thing I would recommend to the publisher, if a second edition comes out, is to include maps. I make constant reference to them when I read, and it would be a good way to start teaching youth the Biblical geography we hear so much about in the news today. Otherwise, I really like this Bible. Buy it and enjoy.

I love this Bible for the fact that it has easy refrences. It is extreamly easy to follow. It gives detailed back grounds for some of the most well known characters in the Bible. It is great if you are trying to learn or preach the word.

Great For Young Adults Who Want To Fully Get Into God's Word

The NJKV Extreme Bible is the best Bible that I've seen for young adults between the ages of 18-30 who want to fully get into the Word of God.

I'm a youth leader at my church and I find this Bible to be extremely useful for me to use when I am ministering to young people. I've also found that this particular Bible has helped me to get closer to God.

The NJKV version is very easy to understand and there are special features in this Bible that help you to get as deep inside the Bible as you can.

People profiles give you specific information about specific people who stood a head above the rest to change their world.

What's It Mean? notes give you yte-sized information on specific words or phrases you read about that might not be as obvious today as they were in the culture of Bible times.

There are also other notes that point out promises that God makes in the Bible and ways that He calls us to live 'On The Edge' through faith that pushes us to trust God in the extreme.

There is also a Quick Reference Index which is the place to turn when you need God's answers to your questions. Look up your question by topic in the front of the Bible, then find the answer at the Bible book, chapter, verse location listed. The questions are also repeated in the Bible text next to their answer.

There are handy Reading Plans in the back of the Extreme Bible. These plans give you suggestions for what to read every day to cover the Bible in a year. However, there are also other Reading Plans as well, such as:

30 Days With Jesus - if you have ever asked yourself, 'I wonder what Jesus would do?', then you can find out by following this reading plan, by taking a month to read the story of Jesus.

60 Days With Paul - After you've read 30 Days With Jesus, it is a really good idea to learn what it means to be a disciple of Jesus by spending '60 Days With Paul'.

90-Day Overview Of The Bible - This plan takes you through the major events of the Bible without you reading the entire book.

Finally, there is also an 'Extreme Index' which makes it easy to find what you're looking for! The most important contents in the notes and articles are arranged alphabetically by subject, which every topic you could imagine from Abuse through to Worship. Whatever your need is, this easy-to-use feature helps you zero in on the Biblical advice and insights you want, fast!

This is definitely not a Bible for the faint-hearted! Are you up for the challenge? If you are, then you should definitely purchase this Bible - you won't be disappointed!

I loved this book because of the depth it gave my Bible study. It goes in-depth into the language of the Bible, with the meaning of the word choice. It also talks about the nature of the Lord, helping me know He understands what sorts of things I struggle with and how He can guide me. In looking for a fuller way of life and faith, this book is full of ideas for improving the quality and depth of my life and faith. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants an easy yet deep reading about the Lord and life!

Finally - why bad things really happen to good people.

This book is brilliant. Unless I had read it I don't think I ever could have conceived of a plan of Divine government that was so ingenious. The basic concept here is that God governs the human race by allowing people to do as they wish. It reminds me of the saying 'He governs best who governs least.' Therefore God governs in a way that is basically invisible, and yet He still governs.

According to this book God maintains 'control' in myriads of subtle ways, and yet the system is set up in such a way that people really are free. That is, people can acknowledge or not acknowledge God, they can obey or disobey Him, they can think and do as they wish. I think this is a pretty good explanation of the existence of evil. It exists in potential as an opposite of God, dictated by the principle of freedom - but not created by God. I thought this was brilliant. It explains why bad things happen to good people, at least it does to me. That is, bad things are not caused by God but by the principle of freedom itself.

The best part of this book, however, is its articulation of the means God uses so that bad things will stop happening to good people. According to Swedenborg, God is guiding the human race in subtle and miraculous ways towards a happier future. It happens slowly and invisibly so as not to impinge on human freedom. The principle method is information. As people gather knowledge, the knowledge eventually has a great impact on how they act. Knowledge of God is called the Word of God, and it very gradually shapes human actions - but only insofar as people understand, accept, and willingly act on it. I find it easy to believe that information is that powerful.

The purpose of all of this, according to this book, is to bring people to happiness, both in this world and after death in heaven forever. Not a bad purpose.

A work of genius. I would call it Divinely inspired.

I don't think I can say enough about this book! It is actually four smaller works bound together, each one adding amazing depth to reading the Bible and knowledge of God and life in general. The Biblical support that is all through them is fabulously arranged, with clear connections and ideas. This edition of the book is small and very portable, allowing me to take it basically anywhere. It has improved my Bible studying and the quality of my life--because now I know more about how to bring God's love into my life and share it with others. If you are looking for a more intense Bible study, or ideas on how to truly live, this is the book to read!

This book contains four short introductory works by the profound Swedish writer and thinker Emanuel Swedenborg, who lived and wrote in the 1700s. His works as a whole offer thoughtful Christians a richness of insight and spiritual development comparable to the greatest religious texts of Eastern religions, like the Bhagavad Gita, the Yogasutras, the Dhammapada. These short works on faith, spiritual life, sacred scripture and the Lord show the reader some of what Swedenborg's longer works offer - a thorough renewal and revaluation of Christianity, focusing on revelation, doctrine and charity. As with all spiritual texts, these give the reader back many times the value he or she puts into working with them.

A thorough investigation of the history, design, techniques, and developments of gaff-rigged craft, both workboats and yachts. A comprehensive review of all major British and American types and some European ones as well, enliven with stories of those who built and sailed them. The book may benefit from a larger selection of illustrations, especially line drawings and sail plans.

A great resource on the gaff rig

Like Tom Cunliffe's "Hand Reef and Steer," John Leather's "Gaff Rig Handbook" is an excellent resource for someone building, restoring or merely interested in gaff rigs. I go back and forth between those two as the "best source", but in reality, I think both should be in your library (they are in mine, and both are well used).

On my boat building site...I reviewed "Gaff Rig Handbook":

"This was suggested as the best resource out there on the gaff rig, and after a long wait while [I]obtained this book from England, I can report that it is everything people say it is. Great text, clear illustrations, and quite a bit of information not found elsewhere makes this my favorite of the books listed."

The most recent edition, published by Wooden Boat Publishing in 2001, is now available. The content is much the same ... in fact, I can't find a difference ... with the prior edition, so no need to "buy again" if you have an older copy. But if you are serious about gaff rigs, and Gaff Rig Handbook isn't in your library ... it should be!

Brilliant definitive treatise

I thought I understood gaff rig until I got into this incredible book. It truly is the definitive text on the subject. Be warned - this is not necessarily an easy book to read. It is dense, profound stuff, and there are many places that will stop you in your tracks as you read paragraphs over and over, trying to tease out and understand all the multilayered detail. But once it's accomplished, the lights go on, and you have a new understanding that a more "readable" treatment would never have afforded. The illustrations are marvelous, whether it's the crisp, highly detailed line drawings of rig details or the wonderful rare old photographs of the glory days of this marvelous rig. Truly a must read. And it isn't just a tribute to the racing yachts - this is a book of working sail, where men's lives and livelihoods depended on their watercraft.

Also highly recommended is "Hand Reef and Steer", by Tom Cunliffe, which is a much more readable and user friendly text for the gaff rig owner/sailor

The Best Resource on the Gaff Rig

Leather's book is probably the best resource on the Gaff Rig that I have seen yet. Great text, clear illustrations, and quite a bit of information not found elsewhere makes this my favorite of the books I've reviewed. While Leather is a Brit, he does have quite a bit of info on American gaffers as well, including a chapter on the fishing schooners of New England. Each major component of the gaff rig is treated with a chapter (Mast and Spars, Running Rigging, Standing Rigging, etc.) and then adaptations for several specific types of boats (catboats, sloops, cutters, smacks, yawls, schooners, etc.)

This is the definitive gaff rig text.

If you're only buying one book on gaff rig, this should be it. Full of useful information, supported with many practical diagrams (not all of them original,) it is a first-class resource for anyone contemplating building a gaffer, or converting from a different rig.

Note that this book is described by the publisher as an "extended" 3rd edition of the book originally published in two editions under the title "Gaff Rig". I am not clear how much additional information has been included in this new edition, but the change in title indicates that there might be considerable differences between this "Handbook" and the two earlier "Gaff Rigs."

I am totally overwhelmed with this volume. Equally impressed, and thankful, for the additions to the Greek text. It is an excellent buy for the informed student. For the intermediate student of the Greek New Testament I would suggest a companion, Greek-English Lexicon, by your side. However, my own opinion: it is not a volume for the beginner. The condition upon receipt was excellent and it arrived before the promised date. Another thank-you for Amazon and its book-sellers.

Excellent English Translation, Great Critical Text

Review Date: 2007-09-18
When I received a Copy of the Greek-English Greek New Testament based on the 27th Edition of the Greek New Testament text I was blown away with the amount of scholarship in this book. First, it impoyes the Revised Standard Version English translation of the New Testament (@nd revised edition), which I grew up on and greatly enjoy, and second they employ a beautiful Greek Text, with all the variant readings from most, if not all, the known GNT texts in existence which is wonderful for comparison and a truly in depth study of the text. One can use this book for translation purposes all well as for personal study. The Greek text allows you to see if the RSV is doing justice to the Greek as well as allowing you to read the Greek text on your own without the RSV and to create an English translation of your own choice. Overall this a wonderful book that will provide many years of enjoyment and serious study.

lots of nice features but NET diglot may be a better choice
Helpful Votes: 11 out of 11 total.
Review Date: 2007-03-09
First one has to get over the prejudice against diglots and other NT texts with aides. I was taught old school that you used an "unmarked" text and even a dictionary in the back was cheating. But the better my Greek becomes, the more convinced I am that reading an unmarked text is a waste of time because it does nothing to IMPROVE your greek. So your choice, if you want to do "arm chair Greek," (that is not having to have two books open at once) is a diglot or Zondervan's Reader's Greek New Testament which has all the rare words in footnotes. Both of these, I suppose, could be abused, but we are not talking interlinears here. I recommend a diglot AND the Reader's Greek NT (a revised edition is on its way.) The Reader's Greek NT will help you in vocabulary acquisition and a diglot is great because no matter how good your Greek is, it is a good idea to check your mental translation against the experts. I find that I still misconstrue a lot of the text and need to check my work.
As to this book, the font used here is a good one; Nestle Alland is probably the most pleasing on the eye, better than UBS 4 which tends towards italics, MUCH better than the horrible italicized font on Reader's Greek first edition. (Hopefully the revised edition will have a better font.) The size of this font is okay, a little smaller I think than UBS 3, but the size of this book is nice because it is big enough to read clearly and small enough to carry around. The NET diglot has a much larger font and I would consider this in making a decision. A large font makes reading the Greek NT MUCH more enjoyable, but the NET size is hard to carry around, so there is a trade off. It should be pointed out that in both books, much space is wasted on the page, better layout could produce a LARGER type with a SMALLER book.
The criticial aparatus used here is pretty awful. UBS is much more user friendly. NA is virtually impossible to decode, with the variants themselves abbreviated and without accents, and the symbols used mar the text a bit. The NET diglot uses the identical apparatus and text, and as far as I know UBS does not make a diglot, so again there are trade offs.
The translation used here, RSV, is a fine overall translation but a more literal one would have been much more helpful, e.g. NASB or even a literal "crib" written for just such a text. Often a literal or near literal translation is the best grammatical commentary on a text, and RSV is wanting in this again and again. This is not the place to critique this translation, but I would say that after comparing RSV to the Greek while reading this, one has to conclude that the RSV is far too free. Now, mitigating against this in this book is a wonderful feature where variant English readings from the KJV and the old ASV are given. These are very helpful in unpacking the Greek, which raises the question why one has to use centuries old translations to figure out the Greek. I think one will have MORE respect for KJV and ASV after using this text. However, the readings are limited, often a difficult Greek passage will only have a RSV reading which is really a paraphrase, helping you, I suppose, discover what the text MAY mean, but not what it SAYS. This text also has the very annoying element of often having the English variants on the next page instead of the facing page. Still, this feature is very nice to have.
So, overall I would recommend this diglot especially if you are on a limited budget and you want a smaller text. However, I think I would pay the extra money and get the NET diglot. (See my review of that work.) Actually, I would get them both.
The cover on this book, as on most UBS and NA stuff, is cheap and the binding here is known to fall apart. That is another reason to look into the NET diglot.

I own several Greek bibles, including the standard NA27 text, interlinear Bibles, and others. This one by far is the most useful to me, as it juxtaposes the English on the adjacent page, allowing me to quickly find passages I'm looking for without translating verses to find my way. Much better than interlinear Bibles, as it doesn't fill the page with noise from both languages, but cleanly separates the two on opposite pages. While I have some mixed feelings about the quality of the RSV, it seems to be closest to reading in-line with the Greek as well. Out of all the Greek bibles I own, this is the one I use the most. Only two more things would make this Bible perfect: a true leatherbound cover (instead of the cheap simulated cardboard this one uses), and a good quality dictionary in the back for those times you don't feel like lugging a Lexicon around.

first of all, the introduction does not appear in both german and english; only in english and it includes a letter in greek from eusebius explaining new testament canon. the font is bold compared to the ubs gnt's italics (i think better) but the format may take some getting use to. matthew begins with english on the left hand and greek on the right then turn the page and the greek is on the left hand and the english on the right, etc. in my opinion, the rsv is better than the nrsv and i am glad they chose to use it rather than another translation. i expected a hardcover like the septuagint but the one i got is leather bound like the gnt4. this book is easier than reading the greek new testament with max & mary but that may not be a good thing after all. i love it.

I haven't used it much yet but it looks good so far, I got the whole Holman set... Concordance, Commentary and Bibles (for me and the wife) because that's the version our small group is using. My only possible complaint is that I would like the type to be larger (eye's are getting old?) and for there to be less wasted white space on the pages (this is mainly in the Bibles as the smaller, pocket-sized, Bible was unreadable to me)

Excellent translation in between NASB and NIV

Review Date: 2005-02-20
I recently bought the HCSB and I am delighted with the translation. It is more literal than the NIV (New International Version) and more accurate, and yet it is more readable than the NASB (New American Standard). I liked this translation also because it is based on the Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia 5th edition (Hebrew OT) and the United Bible Societies' Greek New Testament 4th edition (Greek NT). The 100 scholars who translated this version are evangelical scholars who obviously have a high regard for Scripture and hold to the inerrancy of Scripture. I liked how the HCSB translated certain passages. I am relieved that translations of passages such of Dan. 7:13 are not so gender inclusive that it missed out on the whole Messianic reference (HCSB "One like a Son of Man" not like NRSV "one like a human being"). Another notable translation is Phil. 2: 6 ("did not regard equality with God as something to take advantage of"). I also liked how it translated 1 John 2:2 ("propitiation" instead of "expiation" for reference to Christ's atonement). A curious note in the O.T. is that sometimes the translators translate God's name as Yahweh and most other times it leaves it as LORD and GOD in capitals (e.g. Ps. 81:10; Ps. 83: 18).

This is the most cost effective edition of this translation (the Gift & Award Bible) since it costs only $5, which is much less expensive than comparative Gift & Award equivalents for the NIV and NASB. I have purchased many of these Gift and Award HCSBs to give out to friends -- it is even less expensive than some New Testament versions. This Gift & Award edition is much less expensive than the red-letter text edition of the HCSB. If you want to purchase a less expensive edition of the HCSB just to read it and try it out, the Gift & Award is the way to go.

I highly recommend this translation! It is a worthy addition to the plethora of Bible translations out there. I would also highly recommend the English Standard Version as well (which is more expensive than the HCSB). If you like a low-cost Bible which is accurate and readable, try out the HCSB! Like the English Standard Version, it is a nice cross between the NIV and NASB.

Unique Word Of God Bible

This HCB is a unique, essentially literal translation. The rendering is almost the same as the ESV/NASB. This particular one is a smaller size and of imitation leather, with paperback pages.

The outstanding features are the Red Letter Edition to Christ's words, as well as the lay out of important quotations from the Old Testament etc. The early Church hymn of Philippians 2 is also presented in a stanza form, as are many other helpful tidbits. Therein the wording helpfully reads: 'the emptying of Christ..' The maps are in color and their is a helpful addition of theologia at the back: an abbreviated dictionary, concordance and other study helps.

'Whatever He tears down cannot be rebuilt,
whoever He imprisons cannot be released.' Job 12:14

The rendering of He and His favorably appears with a capital H !
I have one mainly for the translation benefit is brings, as it is
clear and true to the original text.

First, it goes without saying this is an excellent value. It provides a great opportunity to check out this new translation.

The HCSB is one of only two new translations that I like (the other being the ESV). The only thing I don't like is its tendency to be a little too conversational at times.

On the other hand, the translators seem to place a high priority on accuracy (my one problem with the NIV, at times).

Bottom line: get a copy of the ESV and a copy of the HCSB and you'll have two great alternatives to the NIV (for those times when you want a change of pace).

Very good Bible for the price

From what I have read so far, the HCSB seems to be a good translation. I would recommend it for someone looking for the accuracy of the NASB, but readability of the NIV.

This particular book is basically a paperback Bible with an imitation leather cover. The pages are made of the same paper as paperback books. This is the only paperback Bible I've ever seen with red-lettering. Just like other paperback Bibles, there is no book marker.

This would be a great Bible for a new Christian, for a confirmation or Sunday School gift, for a "first" Bible, for handing out to evangelize, or to just check out the HCSB translation (like what I'm doing with it). It isn't as nice as more expensive Bibles, however, considering that it only costs $5, it is a very nice Bible for the money.

This book by TD Jakes is the book that really pushed Bishop Jakes to the forefront. Women of all ages found pieces of themselves in this book, myself included. It was helpful, insightful and most of all a relief to be reminded that we could be free and that we didn't have to live with the heavy yoke of past mistakes and scars. Great book even years after it was first published, should be a must read for any woman who seeks to live a delivered life.

There's not a Bible to be found that compares with this one! God's Word in itself is sharper than a two-edged sword; in addition, T. D. Jakes has elaborated on Scripture in a way never seen before to heal the woman with deep wounds. How refreshing to find yourself happy with who you are and desiring to yield to HIM because of His awesome love for us. Thank you, Bishop Jakes!

It's difficult to summarize this book in a nutshell, but I've read this book numerous amounts of time and continue to go back to it. God uses Jakes to touch, heal, and set His daughters free. Jakes bases his information directly from the word of God and touches hearts. I cried reading this book. It's a balm every women needs. It's the truth of how God feels about us and we need to know this. Read the book and allow God to touch the areas in your life that the devil has been attacking you in. It's awesome. It's life changing and it's definetely uplifting.

THE BOOK IS FOR THE HEALING, HURTING AND SUFFERING.

This book and all of Bishop Jakes books are a blessing to own. This book is readable and understandable. I have purchsed 5 of these books so far as gifts and for myself. I have been changed in a short time just by reading each scripture, definition of each woman of the bible and I no longer feel alone. I have been able to identify myself with each story, situation and problem. I Love this book and I hope every woman or man get one. This is the best Bible that I have ever read & it is truly for the woman.

Bishop Jakes Thank you and Bless You for telling it like it is and being able to understand the feelings of women.

An edition that will last!

This edition of Thomas a Kempis' most famous work is really a find. I have several battered paperback editions that have fallen apart - not this one. The translation by Bishop Challoner is one of the most beautiful and edifying. If you want an Imitation, don't economize - this one that'll last you out, and will look good on the shelf at the same time.

If you have grown a little tired of all the rewriting, rewording and other attempts to make all classical volumes "cutting edge" and PC you will find a great deal of satisfaction in the beautiful translation of The Imitation of Christ as the author intended it to be read.

If you are fond of watered down bawlerized translations this is not the book for you. The traditional language is a breath of fresh air for those of us who love the stately language that takes no prisoners and tell the truth exactly as it was written. Perfect for meditation or Lectio Divina or as a spiritual road map that lays out in easy steps how to attempt union with God.

The actual volume is another great example of the high quality Baronius is producing. It is very comfortable in the hand and the gold lettering and designs work well with other Baronius publication like St. Benedict's Holy Rule. They look very nice on the shelf together which, by itself, is not a sufficient reason to buy it, but is a nice extra. The only thing they could do to pick up that fifth star is to make it a sewn, flexible leather binding.

An excellent addition to any serious spiritual library.

A good devotional for people of all faiths

This monk has a real grasp on righteousness. He reminds me of C. S. Lewis.

The only drawback of this edition is his overly fondness for the bread and wine ceremony in the last few chapters which may strike many as being over done. This is why it is common to publish versions of this work with the last few chapters omitted.

A Good Monkly Read

I'll begin with a word about the edition. It's awesome! Quite simply. The leather is amazing, the paper is neat, the printing is excellent, there's a ribbon to mark your page: there's everything any book-lover loves.

So what is this book? It is one of the most popular religious texts after the Bible itself. "The Imitation of Christ" was written by a monk, Thomas à Kempis, and was originally intended for monastics and ascetics, or monks and hermits, or anyone meaning to live a highly religious life entirely devoted to God.

This is not a book to convince you of anything as it is not made with arguments. That is, it is not a discussion of whether Christianity is true or not. It's the "imitation" of Christ, not the "justification" of Him. For this reason, I would recommend it to people of faith first and foremost, or at least people with an interest in God and spirituality. If your aim is to understand Christianity better and get yourself some faith, I definitely recommend the reading of other books than this one, at least to begin with.

"The Imitation of Christ" is divided into 4 books, each of which has a healthy amount of short chapters. The short size of those makes them quite appropriate for rereadings and frequent considerations over time. If you think you will be reading this book more than once, or if you think you will regularly consult it, then I absolutely recommend this edition as it is made to last.

Is there anything negative to say about this book? Well, sort of yes, as far as I am concerned, but it has more to do with theology than the book itself, so I am not sure it does count as "negative" points. And in fact, I still gave the book 5 stars. My "problem" with the book is that it does spend a considerable amount of time being nihilistic, in that branch of Christianity which considers the world worthless, and humans equally worthless. I understand the need of humility in a spiritual life, but when we go past humility into self-bashing and the almost vicious enjoying thereof, I draw the line. I think it's somewhat vain to focus that much on ourselves and our condition. I'd rather praise God than demean myself and my fellow humans, even though you could argue that it comes down to the same thing; and yes, it would, but praising God seems a lot more positive than to focus on our own worthlessness. This being said, the book is quite many centuries old, and that is why I don't think it'd be a grand idea to punish it in this review because of theological opinions. It doesn't take anything away from the book, or not much. Of course, that will depend on how you yourself view the world and Christianity.

On the whole, I think this book will be quite a nice read for people who want to feel in a religious mood.

I have several paperbacks of The Imitation of Christ. It is one of my favorite books to meditate on. I have always wished that I could find one that was in hard-back, as well as leather bond that was excellent in quality and priced reasonably. Baronus Press has done an incredible job with this publication. It is gift quality and something to treasure and hand down to a family member. If you want something really special, I strongly suggest this beautiful book.

The BEST Study Bible out there

I believe this is the best study Bible there is because you are the one creating is. Rather then going by the publishers notes, or someone else's research, this Bible forces you to do the research yourself. You need to decide what the chapter themes are, who wrote the books, and other areas of insight. I love the Thompson Chain reference, and the Zondervan study Bible as well, but I have learned more from this Bible then any of the others.

I bought this Bible a few years back and it was such an answer to prayer. I was so excited the day it came and immediatly started looking through it and was so impressed. There was an instructional page that even I could understand and once I got started, I didn't want to stop. The system they give for studing on your own makes it so much easier to really get an idea of what the individual chapters are about and what the big picture for that particular book is. And the pictures in the front are awesome. They were such a help to a very visual learner. There are so many features on this Bible. I could go on and on about this Bible it is worth every penny!

It is an excellent bible, I could find no commentary, only helpful suggestions on what to look for in the scriptures. The 'in text' charts, timelines and maps are a great plus, the best I have found. It could use a larger concordance. Thanks.

It's strange to do a book review on the Bible, but for anyone looking to get into the Word without getting distracted by the commentaries, this is a great version. It's NASB, so it's highly accurate (my only complaint about NASB is that it chooses to distinguish thoughts addressed to God by using Old English, which is a little subjective, not to mention outdated). The margins are huge for taking notes in, the maps and keys in the back are helpful, the fact that subject headings are not included encourages analytical thought, and the cross-references and concordance are fairly thorough. The page layout is reader friendly as well. I examined a lot of Bibles before purchasing this one, and I love it.

Keeping God in the Small stuff is an excellent way to start your day after prayer. I keep the book in my office at my desk and it helps me through each and every day. There are times when I'm having a particularly difficult day and I read the scripture for the day and it gets me refocused on what is important. The book was a gift given to me by one of my employee's last year and this year I purchased 12 books to give as Christmas gifts to my Sunday School teachers.

I got this book several months ago and I look forward to reading it every morning before I start my day. It serves to establish a certain mindset that keeps God in the forefront throughout the day. It is very interesting in that it seems to "speak" to various things going on in my life as if each page were written directly to me at that moment. It is easy to read and is not "preachy." I hope to find more books written by these authors.

Order it today. You will not be disappointed.
