But fear not -- the content hasn't been toned down (in this version, at least. We'll see what next year holds.) There are still Bible verses and inspirational thoughts throughout. My wife uses hers extensively, and she requests a new one every year.
However, if they water it down to fluffy feel-good sayings and drop the verses, we'll purchase a different product next year.

An Incomplete Biography of Jesus ChristReview Date: 2008-12-23
This biography departs from what we are used to in several ways. First, it begins before its subject's birth, describing his role in the decisions and actions taken before the world was created. It also continues after his death, describing his ministry among the spirits of the dead, and after his resurrection, as he visits his disciples in Jerusalem and in other parts of the world. Also unusual for a biography, it describes with faith and confidence his future actions as he completes his work to "...bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man." (Moses 1:39 in The Pearl of Great Price). Jesus Christ's mortal life, particularly his ministry during his final three years, is presented in great detail.
In spite of its impressive and expanded scope, it is incomplete--reminding us that all biographies are incomplete--because of things we do not know. It does not say much of Jesus' childhood nor of the private aspects of his life. Perhaps more will be known at some future time. Some will not, for considerations of privacy we would all wish of a potential biographer. We are left to contemplate the life presented to us, to use what we learn from it to best fill the remaining spans of our own. This life in particular is worth examining and emulating.
This book is written from the point of view of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons). It is best understood and appreciated by those who believe and value this perspective. Those seeking an introductory presentation of LDS belief might prefer the official LDS Church guide Gospel Principles or Mormonism: A Very Short Introduction.
Jesus the Christ Ranks at Top of All Time FavoritesReview Date: 2008-01-31
Our study group has all different sizes and editions, but this beautifully bound soft leather cover book with its high quality golden edged pages and an attached ribbon bookmark is the envy. Unlike the other large and bulky editions, even with its 700+ pages I can curl up in bed to read it and it also fits in my handbag when I'm on the go. It was well worth the extra money. One caveat: If you need large print, this edition wouldn't be for you.

A lovely, fragrant blossom of a devotional bookReview Date: 2000-04-07
The cover welcomes you with a bouquet of pink roses and golden lettering. The spine is a textured cloth. The endpages are beautifully speckled with bits of pastels. The pages themselves feel substantial, but are given lightness and beauty by the soft colors that inbue the paper.
The format is just as pleasing: On the left hand pages, you'll find Bible passages on specific promises, such as "Promises to Help You Learn From Others" or "Promises About Daring To Risk". On the right hand side is a brief passage to inspire you by the likes of Luci Swindoll, Gloria Gaither, Liz Curtis Higgs and Elisabeth Elliot. A wonderful compilation, feminine and comforting and uplifting.
I've had my copy since it was first published a few years back, but it recently received some water damage when my car sprang a leak (I kept the book with me when driving around town). I plan to order a new one, because it's, quite simply, a small treasure.
I recommend it for every Christian woman, and most especially, I recommend it as an affordable and pretty gift type of book which carries priceless advice.

An Encouraging "Companion" For Every DayReview Date: 2000-04-12
The promises of God are paired with the insights of Christian women to supply your mind and heart with good news at every moment when it's needed. Find promises to help you recapture joy, or assist you to develop godly habits or to aid you in your struggle through heartache. For the last you find, "In the day when I cried out, You answered me, and made me bold with strength in my soul," from Psalm 138:3, paired with an essay by Liz Curtis Higgs, who says that "laughter is how we take a much-needed break from heartache."
Under the heading PROMISES TO HELP YOU WAIT IN HOPE, you'll find from Psalm 27:14, "Wait on the Lord, be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart," combined with words from Edith Schaeffer about how we wait for all manner of things, and most of all, for Christ's return.
If you're the type of person who enjoys devotional books, if you like to carry something beautifully written with you to give you an inspiring word when the days are rough or you are feeling doubts, then please obtain this lovely compilation. An encouraging word will always be at hand. *Mir*

Some good, some bad.Review Date: 2007-05-24
The ink they used was blacker than the others and the paper they used was whiter too. However the rest of the book is nothing to write home about. The leather is bonded and kind of cheap. The ribbon marker is barely the size of a shoestring.
I figured if I stuck with this bible long enough, I would wear it out and then send off the nice pages (by far the best part of this bible) to a bindery and have it rebound in genuine leather and have them sew in 2 or 3 nice wide satin marker ribbons.

Fantastic take on the Word of GodReview Date: 2008-11-30
The King James Version Master's Healing Presence Bible is the joint effort of Benny Hinn Ministries, Thomas Nelson Publishers, and a pleathora of famous, anointed biblical teachers and pastors, including R.A. Torrey, Kathrine Khulman, F.F. Bosworth, John Wesley, Smith Wigglesworth, Oral Roberts, A.B Simpson, Charles Spurgeon, Andrew Murray, Charles finney, E.M. Bounds, Maria Woodworth-Etter, D.L. Moody, Martin Luther, John G. Lake, Madame Jeanne Guyon, Benny Hinn and many others.
This is what some refer to as a "Rainbow Bible." Specific Scriptures are color-coded to correspond with various themes and contributor's articles. For this one, passages relating to prayer are hilighted in purple, passages exposing faith in action are orange, passages for healing are green, for the Holy Spirit are yellow, and the presence of God are blue.
Although the traditional, literal King James translation might be a little difficult for some readers (I love it), the content is truly inspiring. The articles from the various teachers add to the Scriptures. The color-coded passages also correspond to the exhortations from the contributors (prayer purple, faith orange, Holy Spirit yellow, God's presence blue, healing, green). The correlation of the color-coded passages makes comprehending and understanding them as they relate to the message of the Bible, and it makes for a wonderful reading experience.
the font is nice and big (9) but not huge. I have bad vision and can read it without glasses. Mine is bound in bonded leather (it only comes in black), which isn't as good as genuine or premium sewn bindings, but it seems sturdy and the glue seams haven't peeled up yet. I've had trouble with this in my Nelson NKJV study Bible. The page edges are guilded, and there's two indexs in for the articles and color-coded Scriptures, dedication and family-tree pages in the front, a smallish concordance, 9 full-color maps, and pages for recording and journaling in back. There's also center column formatted cross-references.
If you are a fan of Benny Hinn, then I recommend this Bible. It's not too huge (under 1.8 inches thick), and is small enough to carry around and preach without too much trouble. Even if you own lots of other Bibles, get this one. It will change the way you read and deepen your understanding of God's Word.

Excellent "reader's" BibleReview Date: 2007-05-20
The pages are pretty thin and the result is a reasonably thin Bible, less than 2" thick. Being a basic Bible, it contains no maps and only a very limited concordance, but also incudes a Counselor's guide which is helpful for the casual reader. While not a reference Bible, it is much easier to read than the usual two column format due to the unique single column format. The typeface is very readable, with one exception: the verse number in many cases, is too close to the leading character of the verse.
In short, though, you can find this very nice Bible, brand new or in "like new condition", for less than $30 at reputable sellers. I have obtained three additional copies for friends for less than $25, including shipping. Now that Nelson owns World Publishing, it will be interesting to see if they continue producing this version of the NASB. If you are a fan of the NASB, I highly recommend this Bible. I have yet to show someone this version who did not "Oooh!" and "Aaah!" over the single column format. I've also noticed that Crossway is publishing a single column format Reference ESV, a translation that I also admire, but I am not a fan of Crossway quality. I don't believe they use Smythe binding at all, which is a shame. The Thinline ESV I bought my wife 6 months ago is already looking quite worn (she does read it every morning, but carries it no where). Again, I highly recommend this Classic Companion edition, if you can find it.
Possibly the best NASU Bible I've ever seen Review Date: 2005-09-30
I second that!Review Date: 2004-05-13
As far as choice of translations, the NASB is not the only translation I read, but it is a good one. I teach the students in our Bible classes to avoid translations that have a philosophy of dynamic equivalence-- most notably the NIV. This is not because the NIV is a horrible Bible, but because it removes you one step further away from the original Word of God than you alredy are. You will fine many many places in the NIV that are not actually translated from the original text, but are "interpolated" by the translators. If you find the NASB choppy, try also the ESV or HCSB, which both strive to readable but literal, and do a great job.

Excellent Bible!Review Date: 2002-08-11
It's a great, inexpensive NASB Bible for casual reading, but definitely not a good study Bible (it wasn't made to be one, I don't think). It's just very nice and simple.
My biggest problem with the Bible was that it did not provide the references to quoted portions of the Old Testament in the New. Even a non-study Bible should have footnotes so we know where Jesus or Paul were quoted from in the Old Testament. They're in block lettering, and that's about it. It's a minor problem, however, and I am still extremely pleased with this Bible. So... buy it, read it, study it, and get to know the Author.

IncredibleReview Date: 2004-09-27
The commentary was written and edited by 40 contributors with doctorial degrees in theology from seminaries all over the nation (five from Dallas Theological Seminary), and is nothing short of astonishing to look at and read. The focus is on the historical background behind the text of the Bible, which enables the reader to more fully understand some of the more difficult passages in scripture, especially those concerning symbolism and prophesies and laws in the Old Testament. There are graphs, charts, and summaries sprinkled throughout the book, along with detailed introductions to each book explaining the basics of what circumstances it was written under. In addition to all of this there are "Word Focus" sections that examine words in the original language that they were written in so that we can have better understanding of the English translation.
This Study Bible is written in such a way that it is great for both those who have known the Bible all their lives, and those who have never picked one up before but would like to.
I have bought five more of these Bibles since my first, for friends, and for myself as I love the commentary so much I have worn two Bibles out over this span. If I could give this six stars, I would- and if I had the money and ability to purchase one of these for every person who browsed this page, I would.
Buying this Study Bible is money well spent and with time invested in reading it you will gain a new and deeper understanding of God and his love for you.
THE BEST!!!Review Date: 2003-05-15
The study notes at the bottom cover about every verse and is very good at explaining without over doing.. If I only had one Bible this is the one I would pick..
There is a lot of other reasons for liking this Bible, like the beginning commentary on each book, the IN Depth articles, Word focus, Quick View Charts, Concordance, Maps (in-text and full-color) and in the front of the book it tells where to find all of this with the page number.

I showed this to my Pastor's wife who teaches Sunday School and Kid's Church and she loved it! She is not yet a grandmother but she said, "This should be called the Sunday School Teacher's Bible! This is great! It already has mini-lessons in here!"
I recommend this Bible to any grandmother...especially if she is a Sunday School teacher!
