I looked for so long for this book. The back cover says "A bright new talent has broken fresh ground in the Regency genre" This was from Romantic Times, in 1988, and they were so right. Christa is a strong young woman and a survivor at all costs, yet never bitter at what life has brought her, sweet, kind and compassionate. Everything Mary Jo Putney writes is fabulous. Her story lines are different from the ususal. I have now read almost all of them, although I am still waiting for "China Bride" to come out in paperback. Found her "Diabolical Baron" at an online auction and I wouldn't part with either books, they are keepers. Hope you can find them, they are worth the effort.

The book was great and I had to finish it before putting it down. The author did his research in the desert area and the gold mining towns mentioned in the book. The characters were beliveable and the story seemed to flow. Can't wait for the next book to come out.

I'm so sad this book appears so anonymous on this page without even a summary or a review. It is one of my favorite regency era romances that I tend to read once a year or so. Marianne is a spirited young woman looking forward to her first London season and is stunned when she is banned by some lofy Marquis solely on her parents bad connection as spies--parents she hardly knew herself at that. Determined to show up the arragont young nobleman she ventures to London despite his letter or warning and in vast array of disguises from a gypsy fortune tellery, lady of fashion, or palourmaid makes out to charm him to teach him a lesson. Revenge of course comes with a price as she feels she's losing her heart to a man who might very well despise her once he learns who she really is.... an excellant, witty read and highly recommended.

Jeanette Baker's first Romance

Those who have loved the wonderful voice of Rita Winner Jeanette Baker, they will want to have this first book from this exceptional author. Although she does tell the reader that she has manipulated the actual time period, the story is a fictional account of a young child who was one of the few surviors of the horrible Glen Coe Massacre and her life with the man whose family is her enemy. The hero and heroine are of warring clans but their mutual attraction is what draws them together but not before our heroine has some heartaches along the way and the hero must deal with his family's wicked ways. Readers will be sure to put this one on their keeper shelves. This first romance is sure to be a favorite for those who love a tell of love and passion set to a backdrop of the turbulant times of 1600's Scotland with the Campbells and MacDonalds constantly at war with each other and the English government.

In 1193 Prince John, ruler of England, orders Lady Alyce Rose of Sherbourne Castle, to marry Baron Dunstan. Heeding the advice of her late father not to trust any male, Alyce wants to delay her nuptials indefinitely or at least as long as possible. When a contingent of knights arrive at her castle, she assumes Dunstan is one of them. She feeds them tainted meat so they will want to depart faster.

However, the leader turns out to be Dunstan's enemy the Lord of Lyonsbridge, Thomas Brand, who seeks funds to ransom King Richard. Thomas immediately takes a liking to the servant wench Alyce, who returns his instant attraction. However, even when their identities finally are sorted out, the duo remains pawns in the regal rivalry and with Dunstan.

THE LADY OF LYONSBRIDGE is an entertaining medieval romance that focuses on the impact the royal squabble between Richard and John has on even the aristocracy. The story line is fast-paced and filled with action, but what raises this plot above the zillion of similar tales are the antics of Alyce and Thomas trying to trump one another even as they struggle to earn the trust of their beloved.

A wonderful book by a great writer of historical fiction! The love triangle is exciting, and the story of Kirsten's fierce desire to become a part of "wonderful America" is fantastic. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves historical fiction!

A yummie erotica novel of Louise in France ...

Review Date: 2004-10-05
Probably set at the turn of the century we find our young heroine Louise, a young American girl sent to the continent to eduacte herself. Educate herself she does so much so that I think they should give her a Phd in the erotic arts .....

Far from being shy about passing her favours around, Louise finds, on her ocean trip to France that she will have to sublimate whatever little principals she may have been born with that she will be required extend her favous, yummie as the task may be, to innumerable men and women she meets along the way.

Since she enjoys it Louise soon finds a great arrangement that she can hire young and also lusty maids who are then able to take lovers off her back ... or something like that .. when tires of them .... Our heroine is such a busy busy little bee that she found that even her maids could not keep up with the demans meaning that she certainly always found a pool of randy young girls willing to do anything for a Frank .. I guess it's a Euro now ...

The cover of this book, by Carroll & Graf, BTW, mentions a Madeleine which of course is not unsusual since this book was probably written with the lead bein Madeleine inastead of Louise ....

Greaterotica and tha authour knows how to stretch the hot hot orgies of delight ...

Lady Of The Garter Will Keep You Mesmerized!

This is the story of the amazing and captivating Princess Joan, also best known as the Black Prince's wife and Richard II's widowed mother. However, there is so much more to be told about her life.

She had its fill of drama and romance. Despite a secret bethrothal when she was only 13 yrs. old, she was married to another man. The King, briefly took her for his mistress; and the common people loved her for her kindness and beauty.

The Fair Maid of Kent, as she was known, was perhaps the most beautiful of all the Plantagenet women. Her passionate love story was lived against the backdrop of such great events as the victories of Crecy and Poitiers, at the brilliant court of Edward III and among his sons and daughters who had their fair share of Plantagenet pride and ambition.

This is the fourth in a series by Juliet Dymoke retelling the incredible and sometimes hard-to-believe story of the Plantagenets. All of the books in the series are unfortunately out-of-print but I found them with a little persistence. I really don't understand why such outstanding novels are no longer in print, it is a shame! The following is a list of all the books in this series in reading order: A Pride of Kings, The Royal Griffin, The Lion of Mortimer, The Lady of the Garter, The Lord of Greenwich, and The Sun In Splendor.

Betty Thomason Owens is by far one of the GREATEST STORYTELLERS OF OUR TIME!

Who tells a tale so well that you begin to feel as if you are watching a motion picture? The renowned Betty Thomason Owens, that's who. This literary classic, is live and in living color. Within the first lines of this story, I found myself lost in the mystery of the opening scene that Owens so magically describes. Lady Jael, along with the rest of the fictional cast are far from believable. They were so realistic in fact, that in some way I supposed that such dynamic figures went on living life beyond the binding. I recommend this reading for every level reader. This book is no "chic flick" though the story line does include romance. There is very much a sense of adventure and suspense, enough to satisfy every preference. Overall, I say a job well done! A tale well spun!
