Scintillating Lesbian Erotic Fiction

Amber is a slave. A highly-trained, exquisite slave. From the moment she sees her, Myra Davenport is enraptured. As Amber's new Mistress, she is in the perfect position to appreciate the slave's finely honed skills, and her eagerness to please. She takes her home, dresses her and houses her, and begins to find that perhaps Amber could be more to her than just a simple slave -- if Lady Davenport is willing to risk her heart.

THE COLLARING OF AMBER introduces us to the vivid characters of Amber and Myra Davenport, opening their lives so that we can share the passion and dedication of their relationship. The sex is steamy, both emotionally and physically fulfilling, and though the story itself might not be action-packed, it is a wonderful erotic adventure. Readers of lesbian erotica will find themselves quite pleased with this lively little volume, and those who haven't considered the genre before should count this as a well-written introduction.

Suzanne Robinson breathes life into the delightful characters of Blade and Oriel. She not only writes historically accurate tales but witty and fun ones as well. I have read (and reread)all of her Elizabethan era stories. The only disappointment so far is that there are not more of them. I would love to see all of these characters again in a new tale.

Most certainly a special kind of kink book ....

The main character, a private eye, Lilly Stone, suffers I believe from a LOT of problems the least of which are voices that talk to her. She most certainly os a candidate for the psychotic rubber room. That however isn't the lest of it in this book. MOst of the other characters are also pretty well very easily dislikeable, not very hygenic, socially challenged and, well, pretty kinky .....

Most certainly the author enjoys lengthly descriptions of bodily fluids and the women tend to pudgy and unwashed while the men are all fat, ugly, sweaty, smelly, unkempt, crude, stupid .... OKOK you get the picture... The writing is good and the bokk does kinda click along, but, if you are able to identify yourself as any of the characters in this book then you should start to really really worry about that!

I'm sure you can tell I did NOT like this book at all but gave it the 5 stars since there are readers that really enjoy thes pig type books .... not me the only pig I want is roasted, on a plate with a baked potato

Another captivating Mansfield

I must admit that I'm partial to Elizabeth Mansfield's books: I have yet to pick one up and be disappointed. This book is no exception.

The premise of this book is that 19-year-old Ada's young brother has disappeared. When her older brother gives up on the search after one day, Ada decides she will have to find her brother. However, she decides it is safer to search as a young man, not an unaccompanied young woman. Enter Derek, a jaded (but not irredeemable) lord who deduces Ada's deception. His conscience prevents him from letting the spunky lady venture alone so he tags along for the search. As the search leads across the countryside and London, Ada and Derek realize they are falling in love. However, before true love can be found, many other problems must be worked out, including revealing Ada's gender deception.

This book has a wonderful, forward-moving plot and very lovable characters, especially Ada and Derek but also the varied cast of secondary characters. Superb writing makes this a treasure in itself. If you can find a copy of this book, keep it--you won't regret spending the time reading this one.

LADY ELEANOR SMITH ~*~ UNJUSTLY NEGLECTED WRITER
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2006-09-23
Her brother [Lord Birkenhead] in 1953, wrote LADY ELEANOR SMITH, A Memoir. Eleanor Smith (1902-45) led a life which reads as if it might have come from one of her own novels.

Daughter of the First Earl of Birkenhead, she was an aristocrat who embraced the Lost Generation of the 1920s. And was proud that gypsy blood ran in her veins. She spent much of her adult life traveling the gateway between Eastern and Western Europe, especially Romania. There she got in touch with her roots, and soaked up gypsy lore, learning the Romanian language and customs.

It was a romantic time to be in Romania, for the King Carol of Rumania had just given up his throne for the gypsy girl he loved in 1926. Then in a midnight coup in 1930, Carol returned and was proclaimed King again. During his reign, corruption and political intrigue in Romania rose to unprecedented heights. Carol weathered economic crisis, labor unrest, the rise of Fascism, assassination attempts and military plots, to become the master manipulators of Romanian politics. Those Carol could not bribe, he forced into retirement or imprisoned. Those he could not bend to his will, he suppressed ruthlessly.

Eleanor was also a great admirer of the circus. Its gypsy traditions and its characters. She adored the ballet. Her first novel, Red Wagon, was published in 1930, and by the time of her tragically early death in 1945, she had writen a rough dozen romance novels, a few non-fiction studies on the circus, an autobiography, and her only collection of short horror stories, Satan's Circus.

Lady Eleanor Smith, nowadays an unjustly neglected writer whose atmospheric tales will haunt the reader and the reader will never will forget. They become a part of you.

This book is a wonderful and very valuable reference work for the study of late nineteenth century and early twentieth century embroidery. The author has included patterns for four projects! It has beautiful and nicely detailed colored photographs and ninety some pages of black and white photos as well. There are examples of contemporary pieces and the best works of several centuries. And, the authors showcase very well their skills as researchers and teachers in the field of embroidery.

Had her Husband led a secret life full of dander and spies..

Review Date: 2001-04-05
Though a widow of only four months. Lady Cornelia Devenish vowed to carry on the grand tradition of her husband's magnificent estate. But the sudden appearance of Edwin Sorrels, and strange inquiries about her husband., left Cornelia disillusioned. Had she known the man she'd married? Sad and heartbroken, a Season in London seemed the best medicine. But imagine her shock when she was introduced to Lord Taveston, only to discover the fop was no stranger! Pledged to keep his secret, Cornelia knew she must make a second pledge to herself: not to spend too much time thinking about the mysterious-perhaps even dangerous-gentleman who might topple her calm widow's life completely.

A good read for such a short book. Only 183 pages

This is one of Blair's earliest works, written in the true tradition of the Rogues. Justin is yummy. Lots of sexual tension throughout, with one surprise after another.
