This was the first book I learned to read. The words are very easy and not long. Morris will keep you reading to find out what is going to happen next. I totally recommend this book for younger kids and I also recommend it to be one of the first books kids read.

A fun book!

Morris meets a cow and a deer and tells them that they are a moose just like him. Of course the cow insists she is a cow, and now the deer tells Morris he is a deer. Oh my! You have to keep reading to find out who wins this arguement.
This is an adorable book and one that is easy for children to read or would be enjoyable to have read to them. Cute illustrations are well.

"KID" SURVIVES WWII AND RETURNS TO DODGERS
Helpful Votes: 6 out of 6 total.
Review Date: 2000-02-02
One of the most interesting books in the Tunis series about the Brooklyn Dodgers, "The Kid Comes Back" is very unusual in that it's not really about baseball so much as it is about courage. Roy Tucker ("The Kid From Tomkinsville") serves in the U.S. Army during the Second World War in Europe, where he suffers an injury in battle. This book deals with what he goes through in the war effort, his rehabilitation and his difficult return to major league baseball with the Brooklyn Dodgers. Tunis, who also wrote "Silence Over Dunkirk," is extremely effective at letting younger readers know what WWII was like. He also does a masterful job of painting a word picture of what it was like for veterans to come back to an America that had changed while they were gone. Of all the Tunis books, this (to me) is the best. The "gee whiz" tone of the first four books in the series is subdued, and a very strong storyline carries all the way through.

Just what every teacher needs to help them translate theory into practice! The techniques and strategies are based on research and should be used in every classroom. We will use this book as a text for our teachers in our Master's degree programs. PLEASE give us a volume II!

I had the good fortune to see Dr. Baum at a conference where she presented on MI and practical applications in the classroom. This book is an expansion of that session. There are lots of practical strategies presented and this book really is a Tool Kit! Every teacher should have a copy for their immediate and practical use. BUT as good as this book is Susan is better in person. If you ever have the chance to see her present go for it! She is GREAT!

I am in the process of starting my first year of teaching, and this is an excellent book to guide you along the way. Even though I have all of my resources from college, this book brings everything together and more to help in every area of your first year. The resources in this book are amazing and extremely helpful. A must have for all new elementary teachers!

It has strategies on everything....fitting in with others, keeping organized, management, planning, discipline prevention, assessment strategies, parent tips and more! It even has some useful reproducibles to help implement these strategies. I highly recommend it!

Comprehensize Gardening Fun for Kids
Helpful Votes: 8 out of 8 total.
Review Date: 2000-04-08
The book has it all covered. From the basics and safety to creating flower or vegetable projects. Each project has a list of items you need and step-by-step instructions. In some cases you'll also see a piece on what to expect next. Projects are environmentally friendly due to the recycling of items that are typically thrown away. Plant zones and what grows best in a zone will help the young gardener.

The colorful illustrations as well as pictures add to the overall appeal to kids. Each project is also identified with a skill scale so they (you) can easily tell when they may need adult help or supervision.

Twenty Thumbs up from Ms. Stevenson's Pre-School Class
Helpful Votes: 4 out of 4 total.
Review Date: 2004-01-13
Every year I look forward to when the first kid in my class looses a tooth so I can share this book with my class! The little girl in the book has lost her first tooth and wants to show the tooth to her Grandfather when he comes to visit. The only problem is she's already given it to the Tooth Fairy. The girl writes the tooth fairy a letter asking to borrow the tooth to show her grandfather...the story that follows is hilarious! My students laugh out loud as the absent-minded tooth fairy tries to return the little girl's tooth, but keeps leaving all kinds teeth that could never belong to a child.
We give this book 20 thumbs up!

The book AN OBSERVATION SURVEY is available in SPanish. It is called Instrumento De Obsedrvacion De Los Logros. It is by Marie Clay. It is not a literal translation of Clay's original book, but a conceptural recreation from English to Spanish based on extensive research in bilingual education. It may be available at Amazon. If not, try www.abcstuff.com Resources for Reading. Hope this helps.

I gave this product (and several others) to a young friend that recently had surgery. Being immobile is hard on young ones, so items such as the Mad Libs for Juniors are really important. They are entertaining and help to stimulate their young minds. I highly recommend these fun activity books!

MadLibs are very popular with my kids and they are the perfect thing to keep in the car for long trips or to have handy when you know you're going to have a wait. I also like to use these to reinforce what I've been teaching them.
