A Great Resource and Guide for Planning

I have had this book for only one week and love it. It helps me plan by month and breaking the month down to week by week. I teach 3 year olds and they have enjoyed the items I have selected. These children are very challenging and to keep them occupied in "learning fun' is a challenge.

Contains great activities for the preschool classroom and the explaination of why you should use them. This is a wonderful resource for the classroom or at home. It helps explain why the activities are developmentally appropriate for the specified ages. This book is very well put together. This book stands at the forfront of my teacher resource collection.

This book is terrific. It's packed with fun and inspiring ideas that work just as well at home as in a preschool setting. I find that I turn to this helpful book time and time again when researching my own parenting articles and books. Highly recommended.

Excellent New Orleans Influenced Cookbook
Helpful Votes: 14 out of 14 total.
Review Date: 2000-08-15
Crescent City Collection is the latest cookbook by the Junior League of New Orleans. It contains some recipes for dishes fundamentally identified with New Orleans, but it also reflects the trend in restaurants and kitchens throughout New Orleans to experiment with new tastes and combinations of flavors. The recipes for traditional dishes like red beans and rice all seem to have a twist that successfully compliments and expands upon what is tried and true. All the recipes I've tried and tasted have been excellent, notably the Crawfish Cheescake, the Curried Chicken Salad, the Madras Salad, and the Chicken Parmisan with Apricot Sauce.

In addition to the excellent recipes, Crescent City Collection is so gorgeous it is worthy of being displayed on a coffee table. The photographs are of historic New Orleans residences. In addition, throughout the cookbook are vignettes on subjects related to New Orleans and cooking. When I don't want to cook out of it, sometimes I just enjoy reading it.

This cookbook is beautiful to look at and the recipes are so easy, even for a novice. The Barefoot Boursin is a big hit at parties and doubles as an ingredient for Sinful Spinach. Also, the Dixie Beer Bread is very easy, I used it last year for Christmas gifts.

Great Cookbook with easy to follow recipes and great flavors. This one has a lot of information about the hometown of Canton, Ohio...the home of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but the recipes are great for any part of the country! Great for gifts...and football fans!

Crowd Pleasers is a fabulous cookbook full of great recipes and interesting historical information about Canton and the surrounding area. On nearly every page there are tidbits of info that even being from Canton, I didn't know. I've even caught my husband reading the cookbook from time to time. The recipes are delicious, with an appetizer section to die for. There's even a "Quick and Easy" section at the back of the book with an awesome recipe for Scottish Haystacks -- butterscotch peanutty candies that get devoured everywhere I take them. I definitely recommend this book!

A classic Junior League cookbook with a Cultural flair

The recipes were original and not too hard to pull together. I especially loved those that featured regional cuisines, like mushrooms (Kennett Square Pa) and seafood from the Delaware and Maryland shore. It makes a wonderful gift - I have given it to hostesses, teachers and family members. Those that most appreciate it are those friends who have moved out of town, because, of the cooperation of the tourism offices from Delaware and historic Southern Pennsylvania the pictures and stories of the local attractions are like taking a mini-trip back home.

A superb addition to any kitchen cookbook collection

Compiled from recipes donated by The Junior League of Wilmington, Dancing On The Table: Easily Elegant Recipes To Keep The Joy In Entertaining is more than a carefully selected recipe compilation suitable for parties and memorable gatherings; it is also the first official cookbook of the state of Delaware. A medley of color photographs intersperse this spiral-bound compilation and its classy suggestions such as Ginger and Honey Pork Tenderloin; Szechuan Noodle Salad; Punkin Chunkin' Cinnamon Meringues, and more. A superb addition to any kitchen cookbook collection Dancing On The Table is enhanced for the dedicated family chef with a page suitable for do-it-yourself notations added to the end various sections.

Nominated for the prestigious Tabasco award...this book offers fun and easy recipes which have been hits everywhere I have taken them!!! The professional photographs of the area were a nice addition - and I especially loved the pictures of the Wyeth and duPont homes - The sidebars are entertaining and read like a travel guide. You will love this book! I also enjoy supporting a non-profit dedicated to raising funds to promote literacy.

I absolutely love this cookbook. My dad has a recipe in it and it is fabulous. It is called "Roger.....Cookoff Chili". This recipe alone is reason to buy the book. It is true TEXAS chili. My dad is the best. That's all.

This cookbook is one of the best I have used.

When I go to make anything I always go to this book first. The recipes are simple and easy to follow. I usually have the ingredients on hand. My favorite is the No Peek Stew. I can put it in the oven 3 hours ahead of the meal and forget about it. It is a complete meal in a dish. I also love the Texas Cake which is one of my children's favorite. There are many great appetizers recipes that I always use for my parties time and time again.

Great recipes, easy to follow directions.

This is my favorite cookbook because I can pick any recipe from it, follow the directions and it turns out great. My children like the Chicken and Wild Rice. What I love about it is I can put it in the oven on low and cook it while I run the kids to lessons and practices. The Texas Gold Bars are a popular dessert with my friends and my Bunco group loves the Hot Artichoke Dip and too many others to list!

Did you ever wonder what a five year old thinks about?
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.

Jacob Terry Wilkinson is pictured on the cover of his book, Did You Ever Wonder. He is sitting in a pile of yellow leaves under a ginko tree. He has his hands folded and he is obviously thinking about something. Jacob proceeds to tell you what he is thinking in his first book, Did You Ever Wonder. His thoughts are cleverly organized alphabetically to produce an ABC picture book that can be used to teach young children to read. However, this isn't the real beauty of the book. The real beauty is how Jacob focuses your thoughts on God's role in creation. He asks, "Did you ever wonder who put the milk in the cows and nectar in flowers?" Kyle Bryan, a high school art student, illustrates the book in a simple but powerful media that small children like. From the first question to the last when read to groups of children many of the children will blurt out the answer. Jacob gives the answer at the end of the book. He is still sitting in the pile of leaves under the ginko tree, but now he has a big smile when he gives the answer. The answer according to Jacob is quite simple, "God Did!"

Fantastic picture book for young children and adults

The photography alone is worth the price of the book. But, the true value of the book is that it helps small children see God in all of creation while learning their ABCs. Even better yet, the author is a five year old assisted by his grandpa and the illustrator is a high school senior. The author has read his book before a crowd of three thousand kindergarten students and their chaperones in addition to a presentation at a large church. His work is enthsiastically received wherever presented. This book is truly a hidden treasurer.

This has help my child learn to read in an exciting way!

I am so happy with this book. It is not the same old; A is for apple and B for boy, abc book. This book uses new and inventive ways with colorful and happy pictures, infact even one of the pictures has a smiling sun. The best part about this book is that it uses a simple abc book to show the child that God created everything. I have bought copies of this for all my grandchildren. This is a must have for any child learning to read!

I have to say that Dorothy Gale: Journey to Oz is amaizing. The author took the original idea of wizard of oz and turned it into his own world. This does not follow the movie at all, this is alot darker, and Dorothy got herself some attitude. If you want to see amaizing artwork with a dark twisted storyline to match it, you will definatley love this comic. I highly recommend buying it, im just waiting for the next book to come out to see what happens next.

Down By The Water is a fabulous collection of recipes complete with seasonal menus, a wine overview and a resource guide for ordering stone-ground grits and other unique ingredients. There are over 300 triple tested recipes using fresh ingredients. Featured selections are Piedmont Punch, Blueberry Pound Cake, Black Bean Lasagna, Charleston Chicken Salad and many more. Recipes include selections from area chefs as well.

The book is a durable, easily cleaned hardcover and lies flat for convenient use. Friends have mistaken this book for a coffee table book rather than a cookbook because it is so beautiful! Down By The Water is a must have!

In this story, Ebb becomes the whipping boy (or dog) when she is falsely accused of eating the picnic before the others could have any. Ebb goes off to sulk in the rowing boat that unfortunately starts drifting out to sea. Eventually the truth is discovered (it's the gulls all along!!) and Ebb, now safely back on terra firma, is forgiven.

What a delightful story.

Ebb is a dog and Flo, a girl of 6-9 years old is her owner. They picnic at the beach, and seagulls steal their lunch. Flo blames Ebb, and Ebb, who is innocent, goes to sulk in their boat. A storm drives the boat out to sea and it crashes on some rocks. When Flo recovers Ebb, she apologizes for falsely accusing her dog. Pastel illustrations capture the mood and delight the eye with textures that will make one feel he or she is at the beach. Young readers will identify with Ebb, if they have been falsely accused, and it will spark memories of joyful trips to the shore.

Flipping through the chapters in this book will inform you about the reason behind the popularity of High/Scope's early childhood curriculum: its efficient, paragonic planning. Planning makes a teacher...period. This curriculum teaches you to plan everything from the room arrangement to the assessment scheduling. Active learning incorporates itself into all aspects. The key experiences align almost like contact paper with most state-level educational standards for this age group. Please try it.
