Just perfect! I bought another one at first coz this one was not available at Amazon. Then Amazon has it, so I asked if I may exchange to this one. They allowed me to return the other one and bought this one. Amazon's customer service is superb. That is why it is the ONLY on-line store I shop! I don't shop at any other on-line store at all!! I think customer service is the key for on-line store. Back to this dictionary--easy explanations, big bold words, and some colorful pages. Just perfect.

I bought this for my 9 year old daughter. She actually enjoys using it. It has a few pictures, but also has a lot of entries in it. I like using it myself. The definitions are easy to understand. I have two younger children so I think this dictionary will get a lot of use.

Mem Fox has done it again! Fox uses the special animals of Australia to illustrate that eachof us has a special place in life that we're each suited for. Love the illustration and the possitive way the animals handled finding that special place for Wombat. It was a favorite of ours this last Christmas, but we also keep it out year round and visitors to our home love reading it.

This Australian story about a young wombat wanting the lead in the school Christmas play, tugs at the heart strings of those who don't always get what they want. In the end the young wombat learns that all the parts in the Christmas play are important and together the actors create a wonderful experience for all in their animal rendition of the Christmas Story. Beautiful illustrations.

Although not the best of Mem Fox's work Wombat Divine is a very good story about an enthusiastic main character who doesn't quite have the ability to be initially succeed where he wants but has his dream come through in the end. A wombat has always dreamed of being in a nativity play but each character he tries out for, he finds out he is unsuited for.

The great story though is let down by very average illustrations by Kerry Argent, which is a shame as those who have read the wombat tale Sebastian Lives in a Hat know she can do a very good job when she puts in the effort and can draw very realistic looking wombats. None of the Australian animals in Wombat Devine actually resemble the Australian wildlife they are supposed to be. Wombat looks like a bear, the emu for some reason has wings that can come out of the front of its body like arms which emus in real life no doubt wish for but don't have, the echidna is just the platypus with a lot of yellow triangles coming out of its body, the bilby looks like a rabbit (no wonder Mem Fox dumped this illustrator and went with Pamela Lofts for the sensational Hunwick's Egg where the bilby actually looks like a bilby.

Wombat Divine is an Australian Classic and in my opinion one of Mem Fox's best. My family now own hundreds of childrens' picture books, but this was the first one I ever bought my son. It still remains a firm favourite with us. The illustrations are delightful, as is the story. It's a must have for the Christmas book collection - something a little different and makes a great gift. You can't help but fall in love with Wombat.

I received the book as a wedding gift two years ago and there are very few recipes I haven't tried. It's not your "meat and potatoes" book, but a collection of family recipes made with gourmet flair. I would certainly recommend this book to anyone who likes to cook and entertain.

I give this cookbook only four stars, for all the wrong reasons. I am a member of the JLW, and I would feel wrong giving the highest possible rating to something I helped produce. It really is five star material for the person who likes to cook and entertain, and the person who likes to send a cookbook to share great recipes with freinds who are also kitchen monkeys. I can say this because I have enjoyed the wit and wisdom as much as the menus and recipes. I was terribly impressed with the books contents when I visited an out-of-town relative (who's a very serious cook, and let's just say, "particular") to whom I sent the book, when she cordially presented one of the full menus at a dinner party. Great find, great gift. All I can add are some of my personal favorites: Hummus: excellent (and easy as pie!) Wild Mushroom Bisque Too many wonderful salads, but my fav is Pasta Pecan Salad ... it is a book that should not be judged by its cover! Both Peasant Bread and Liberty Loaves ... and all those muffins! Pork Tenderloin with Mustard Tarragon Sauce Lasagna Florentine Zucchini au Gratin Cappuccino Brownies: unbelievable!

I love the simple, creative cuisine offered in this book!

Every December I prepare a luncheon for my husband's staff at the University of Florida, in Gainesville. I had already planned my menu, but when I received this book from my twin sister in Overland Park, Kansas for our Birthday I changed my whole menu and chose everything from this cookbook. The recipes are simple yet very elegant in their presentation. I know his office staff will really enjoy all that I've chosen to make. I especially loved the quotes at the bottom of the page as well as the beautifully decorated book cover. Anyone who loves to cook will love this book!

This is a great cookbook for many reasons:

1) I considered myself more of a virtual cook, than an actual cook. Once I purchased Women of Great Taste, that changed. I actually cook recipes now rather than just talking about how good the recipe might be.

2) I always get rave reviews when I serve recipes from this book.

3) This is a beautiful book with terrific recipes. I have recommended it to many friends and family members.

4) Proceeds from Junior League books support community projects.

5) I use it more than any other cookbook I own, and I own dozens of cookbooks.

You cannot buy this book anywhere cheaper than from Amazon.

I bought this book because I had no time to take a course and knew if I was going to spend that much money on the test, I was only going to take it once! I only used this book, and I passed the test the first time. Not only did I pass the test, but in every category I scored the highest you could.

I followed the study plan at the back of the book, wrote out flashcards, and read through the book a few times until I knew it all. I felt fine on the day of the test and handled the questions easily. I got to the essays and actually wished they had been a bit harder because I had practiced with harder questions!

I've told everyone in my classes about this book. Don't be fooled by the low price. This book is great, worth all the money, really prepares you, and would be good to keep when you are a teacher to refer back to.

This book was my one & only source of study for the MTEL F.O.R test. I had heard nothing but horror stories from people who had taken this exam. I have been out of college for 18 years and therfore out of practice taking exams. I used this for the F.O.R and not only passed but did very well. I also bought MTEL (the yellow & black book) for the Communications & Literacy and passed with flying colors. Good Luck!!

A year full of fun and adventure. That is what Best Ray and her friends make make of their highschool junior year. Excited to finally be a junior, Besty has lots of plans for the great year ahead of her. Yet most of her plans fail, but but Besty always makes the best out od a bad situation.
Besty was a Junior, by Muad Hart Lovelace, has its good and bad poitns. Some of the bad points were that charcters were always happy mopst of the time, and that was very unrealistic. The good points were thoguh, that it was a very fun book to read, and there never was a dull moment.
As a result I would rate this bok a 9 out of 10, mostly because it was very exciting, and captivating. I would definatly recomend this book.

When I first read these books twenty years ago I had a hard time finding them and I did not read them in order. I started with "Betsy and Joe" and then read whatever ones I could find. I thought I was the only one in the world that enjoyed these books!!Thank you Harper for reissuing these books. I bought the entire set online and have been reading them in order! These past few weeks I have been in another world--Betsy's world, and it has been wonderful. The new books with the pictures and history of Maude's family and friends have made the characters in these stories come alive.

These books reminded of the "Little House" books and I hope someone makes a TV series out of these stories. They are timeless.

I would give the entire series more than five stars. My obsession with the Betsy-Tacy books began as a young girl reading my mother's hardcover copies. These had been given to her as gifts by her aunt. My great-aunt then began giving me each book in the series, in hard-cover. Unfortunately, all of these were destroyed in a fire that destroyed our family home. My mother was successful in obtaining all the Betsy-Tacy books in hardcover again. I grew up mere miles from the town on which Deep Valley is based, Mankato, MN. I am grown and married and have children of my own, all boys. But I look forward to sharing the timeless treasure of these books with my niece and friends' daughters. I still reread them regularly. These books transcend the period in which they were written. Give yourself a gift and read this series; then share it with a friend and with all the young women/girls you know. There are also two peripheral Lovelace books not directly part of the Betsy-Tacy series, but placed in Deep Valley: Carney's House Party and Emily of Deep Valley. I believe they may be out-of-print; publisher, please bring them back as you revitalized the Betsy-Tacy books.

This goes for all the "Betsy" books

When Maud Hart Lovelace first wrote the "Betsy-Tacy" seires, did she know how much so many people, from children to adults, would love them? The series has at least one book that anyone of any age can relate to. 10-year-olds will love "Over the big Hill," high-schoolers will love the books about when Betsy was attending Deep Valley High, etc. And it doesn't end there! Even if you're not the age that Betsy was in one of the books, you can still love all of them! Maud has a way of capturing real feelings and expiriences--even bad ones--and turning them into works of art. The "Betsy-Tacy" series really is a work of art, even if it was painted with a pen, not a paint brush.

So good I can't stand it

This unique approach for children to learn could be used in American schools. Instead of the memorization of facts and only one way to do things, this approach has the child, parent, and teacher working together. The child has many experiences and the teacher helps them understand and learn from them. The teacher is keeping the parents informed about their child's daily experiences.

This has been the most helpful book as I introduce myself to the Reggio Emilia approach. The author shares her experience as an intern in Reggio in a very readable mix of first person observation, interview, and philosophy. But maybe more important, she then takes us the next step as she returns to the States and colloborates with a center to incorporate the Reggio philosophy. The challenges and suggestions are very realistic and helpful.

It's in narrative form, so it really makes you feel like you are there! It goes through her time spent in Reggio basically day by day, step by step through different projects and talks she has with educators in Reggio, and really gives you a feel of what the whole approach encompasses! Highly reccomended!

Junior League cookbooks can be a mixed bag. But generally keep in mind that they represent a community's best cooks showing off for attention.
Southern cookbooks should reflect Southern cooking traditions and so on.
Colorado Cache is a very inviting collection of newer cooking traditions, often new twists on older recipes. Great gift for newlyweds, as it reflects more recent but dependable trends in cuisine. Always keep in mind that a Jr. League cookbook has earned its price if it only generates 4 to 6 favorite recipes for you! Colorado Cache provides wonderful Denver summer and winter favorites.

This book/tool helped me to realize that there is much more to starting a successful business than just having a good product/service. By answering the questions, it helped me to see clearly my business goals. It showed me what kind of information I need and where I can get it. The book is easy to understand, the definitions of the business terms where helpful. I know I'll reference it often.
