This book is hilarious... both my 6-year-old daughter and I agree! The rhyme is amusing and the "missteps" of the characters are clever and perfect humor for a 5-7 year old.

Loved it!

We first heard this story at a story time. It's a fun, quirky, fresh take on an old classic. The rhymes are cute, as well as the maid, and even Rapunzel comes out looking good. I have two boys and, even though it is probably more of a girl story, they love it. I will probably buy this for my nieces come birthday time.

This book is HILARIOUS!

My 6 year old daughter and I both love this book! It is SO funny and cute and clever. The illustrations are really wonderful and it is a lot of fun to read over and over again. We give this book to every little girl we know as a birthday present.

Leah Wilcox (author) and Lydia Monks (illustrator) have retold the Rapunzel story in hilarious rhyme that captivates my children (and me for that matter!) They love to hear this story over and over - they laugh harder and harder as confused Rapunzel and her hapless prince get more and more outrageous. While he tries to get her to throw down her hair, Rapunzel throws down everything but the kitchen sink. The humor is sweet, the ending is unexpected and happy, Lydia Monks' illustrations are perfect. Our family loves everything about this book - and their other collaboration, Waking Beauty.

Adorable!

Vicky hits a chord with many women, and with people who may know a women, in a style one might expect if she were the love-child of Erma Bombeck and Dave Berry. Like these writers, you get the sense that her everyday experiences are not that ordinary - but yet common to all. I hope to see more works by Vicky, unless her life has slowed down and become boring. Let's hope not.

A "Must Have" for the woman in your life!

"She's faster than a speeding toddler, more powerful than a teen-age temper tantrum, able to leap loads of laundry in a single bound!"

Deb DiSandro wants to change the world one laugh at a time. She is a syndicated newspaper columnists and is famous for her "motherly misadventures." Her column is called "Slightly Off" and appears in (a local newspaper) every Tuesday.

She has finally compiled a number of her famous columns into one book. These are stories mom's will relate to and can appreciate.

This book is really a collection of humorous essays. For years Deb has perfected her comedy routine, which focuses on the many stages of motherhood. I was already laughing when reading the "contents" page. I love how she calls "holidays" something quite appropriate. The first line of the Introduction had me giggling and after that, I was just laughing through the entire book.

The Contents Include:

Battles Burbs, Bottles, and Binkies - Everything from labor to teaching phonics.
Toils with Tikes, Yikes! - Surprising information on brain shrinkage during pregnancy.

Divides and Multiplies? - The author experiences the joys of reuse, reduce, and recycle.
Scores As Supersupporter - Karate and other kicking good ideas.

Prevails Over Perils with Pets - "Mom's take care of dogs."
Duels in a Duo - Commitment or Committed? She tells all.

Tackles the Teenage Years - A Tour of the Teen Brain!
Defends Time Alone - Food Channel fun and cooking blues.

Survives the Holi-daze - An interesting "Grown-Up" Christmas wish, which shows even a supermom can have a warm cuddly view of how she wants Christmas to be. Ha, ha - you have to love the holiday letter. She saved the best till last.

A comedians look at the real world of motherhood! This is truly the most creative Account of Motherhood on the SUPERMOM planet!

Someone once said, "Laughter is the best medicine." If that's true, then I've been healed. Deb DiSandro's book "Tale of a SLIGHTLY OFF SUPERMOM" had me in stitches.
She drew me into her zanny world and helded me captive.I smiled, I chuckled, and I laughed out loud. At times the stories she shared about her family brought nostalgic thoughts of my own family, and I, like Deb, longed to hold those memories tight and never let them slip away.
Here is a book that can bring a smile to Mom, on Mother's Day, a grin from Grandma, on her birthday, or laughter to any woman, who is about to face motherhood.

Deb's adventures in child rearing make a refreshing and hilarious break in an otherwise stressful day. Her humorous way of looking at the most difficult or unpleasant aspects of living with kids is all her own. Just when you wonder how she does it, she shares moments that make it all worth while. Great for moms-to-be, Mother's Day, or anyone who has spent ten minutes with a whining two-year-old in the mall.

Deb DiSandro made me laugh, and for this grandma brought back memories of my days of motherhood. In her essay, Bring Back Grandma's Beauty Shop, Deb gave me permission to take care of myself. I have been fortunate to have Deb as a writing instructor and have enjoyed her as a speaker. I could hear her voice through her words. And, as my daughter Susan in Portland, Oregon, shared, "I love Deb's book. She is hilarious and I can relate."

My 11 year old daughter and I read this book and the whole series together, and we both laughed our way through each one. There were times when I had trouble reading out loud as I couldn't stop laughing long enough to get the words out. If you have a child who isn't much into reading, this series might be just the one to peak his/her interest. The friendships formed by 4 new middle-schoolers and their interactions will make you want to read the book straight through without putting it down. I highly recommend this book and the series!!!

I like this book because it is funny. It was kind of fantasy to me. The underpants was rolled up the flagpole with 5 of somebody's friends. They were riding a skateboard together and threw their homework out the street. This book is about 5 students in the same class that didn't like school. Many times they didn't do their homework. They also got in trouble by doing wrong things. One of them ran somebody's underpants up the flagpole. But at last they didn't get in trouble. This book is likely a troublesome school.

Big fan of the man, really. Out of all of the School Daze series books, this is favorite. Why? Well, the first book, Report to the Princeple's Office is just not interesting, and the others ive only seen a little bit of. The book is about four friends, Sunny, Salom, Eddie, and Pickles. Eddie wants to prove to the world he is grown up despite his superman undies (wich he later burns. Sunny is a cheerleder who hates boys and always frowns. Salom is a aspiering writer who also maneges the football team. Pickles is a famus 6th grader driving the one and only pickle bus. All in all, this book is the best in the school daze series, and is a must buy for all preteens.

I originally bought this book at our local BAM store because I read it in the aisle and couldn't contain my own laughter! It was like those really funny cards you read to yourself in the card shop, and you can't help but snicker and laugh out loud! This is a classic story about one of those days (man or woman, we've ALL had these days!) when you are at the "bottom of the barrel" with hardly any clean underwear, and you have that one pair of gosh-awful underpants that you hate but HAVE to wear. I remember having that one pair of underpants as a child...the ones with the elastic that isn't quite right, but you end up squirreling them away in the bottom of your underwear drawer...only to realize you really need them some day! This is such a cute story (my sons LOVE IT, too!) that we started giving it as a birthday gift when we get invited to those darling little girl parties...I have yet to meet a parent who didn't LOVE IT as well! Overall...cute story, WONDERFUL pictures, guaranteed to crack a smile on your face! Hope you enjoy this book as much as we do. It's a favorite bedtime story at our house.

While most grownups will find it difficult to understand why this tale is appealing, it's almost guaranteed to be among any young child's favorites. Little girls, especially, can relate to the story. As a huge bonus, this was the first book my kindergartner got enthused about reading by herself. It's short, cute, and simple.

I originally checked this book out from a library, but my daughter loved it so much, I had to buy it.

This is such a fun book for both toddler boys and girls. My daughter was resistant to wearing underpants but now takes great joy in searching her underpants for hidden aliens every morning while getting dressed. It seems to be a great companion to toilet training books since wearing big girl or boy underpants is such a huge part of that process. Fun and silly, we read this book aloud all the time as part of our bed time routine. Aliens Love Underpants

Right away this book is appealing to the eye. Bright colors with round friendly little aliens bouncing through the pages. And what's inside lives up to the cover and the excitement of the title. Its revealed the aliens visit the earth because of its underpants. And the story in fun rhyme proceeds to tell what aliens do with underpants. Its a great story to be realoud to younger kids, with simple words and great pictures that will hold their attention. A definate new favorite. That's sure to appeal to all.

Re: previous review... does it really say "little baby diaper pants"? or is it "nappy pants"? Diaper is a U.S. term, whereas nappy is U.K. and Australia (if I'm not mistaken). Maybe two versions of the book have been made for these seperate audiences. But I wouldn't think so.

We always enjoy reading this. Our boy now gives us a big smile whenever we say "pants" during his nappy change.

It was also a good teaching tool for potty training. It's talking about underpants and everyone has underpants accept one baby who has "little baby diaper pants". I told my son that the baby wears didaper but none of the big boys do. It's really funny and I would tell anyone to buy it.

This was a favorite "Bedtime Storytime" book in our public library when it first came out...and the story bears out that love is stronger than adversity, longer-lasting than physical beauty, and, in the end, the rewards of love far outweigh vanity and pride. A sweet and funny book for all ages, especially for those with a favorite pair of pajamas that are put on the clothesline to dry!

I am delighted that this book is back in print! It is an engaging story illustrated with gorgeous watercolors. Rosebud is a rather refined nightgown, and is not impressed at first with Red Flannel, the pair of long johns that adores her. How her opinion of him changes and her respect for him grows is a story that parallels many a human love. Their deep commitment to each other is a lesson in lasting love. This book would be a lovely wedding present.
