This was my sons favorite book as a young boy. He had the whole book memorized at 4yrs old! He loved the idea of being able to pick which ending he wanted to hear/read. Now when we need a gift for a young child he always suggests that we buy them this book.

Which Ending Would You Choose?

Review Date: 2003-06-29
Beautifully illustrated and thought evoking story which allows young readers (and their parents/teachers/siblings) to see what an impact different choices make in lives both factual and fictional.

Milo and his mice friends on their very special island find a mysterious stone and then need to decide what next step to take. Pfister gives a choice for the reader: happy ending or sad ending. Very clever and both endings should be read so that children can understand how choices build upon choices both in writing, creativity and in real life.

Great book for adults as well and Grandparents may want to keep a copy on hand for when their grand children come visit.

My 6 year old liked this book quite a bit. And so did my 8 year old.
I only don't like it's size, too tall to fit on any of my bookshelves, even taller then my typical tall children books.Such a nice book, but now it has no where to sit.

Helping kids to Write/ the concept of ending a story

This book so clearly shows students/children the effect the ending has on a story. It's great if you're teaching students or your own child how to write stories. Just reading it gives them perspective and, with each of their stories, they can write two different endings and choose the better one. This book is FANTASTIC! Get it!

Milo and the Magical Stones

Milo and his mice friends find some glowing, magical stones which led them into making a bad choice or a good choice. This book offers two different endings- a happy one or a sad one. This is a great story for all young children to enjoy. Marcus Pfister's illustrations and texture on the pages capture both children's eyes and hands. After reading the happy ending to my kindergarten class, they could not wait to hear what happened in the sad ending. I highly recommend this book.

Review Date: 2006-03-02
I read this book while away contemplating a divorce.. but something happened to me during and after I read this book. It made me realize that marriage is truely a covenant you make w/God and your spouse and it also made me realize that' it's so important for us to forgive and let go of the pride and bitterness and selfishness and understand our relationships.

I threw away my attorneys' card and tore up the filing papers because I was truely touched by the contents of this book and the prayers within the book. It truely touched me.
It's a must read.. I was blessd with this book from a family member who just didn't know what to say to me.

Prayerful...

This book has saved the marriage of one of my close friends. If you want to be honest and serious about your relationship, read it. If you think that there is no hope, read it. This author is honest and straight forward. It is not a long book, he gets directly to the point. Well written and organized. A must read for any married couple in this modern age.

GREAT TO STRENGTHEN OR SAVE YOUR RELATIONSHIP

This was a most thought provoking book that was filled with excellent ideas. It allows you to examine your relationship and provides basic fundamentals [with Christian influence] as to why you should fight to keep your husband/wife. Spouses are not to be thrown away [like a bad cup of coffee]. Love is a commitment and a choice. Love is not a feeling, although it produces feelings which gives us our highs and lows. Strong relationships are built on surviving the highs and lows, the difficult times and the good times. This book shows you how to handle the difficulties that you may be faced with in your relationship. I found this to be an easy book to get into and easy reading with valuable information. Had I read a copy of this book twenty years ago, I most likely would not have two divorces under my belt! Read it to strenghten a good relationship or to save one that is on the rocks. You will be glad that you took the time to read, "Before You Throw in the Towel." It has been two months since I finished reading this book, so my review is not as detailed as it would be if I had just finished reading it. I did just receive four more copies from Amazon.com to share with family and friends and one for our church library. I was unable to find the book in local book stores. Thank you Amazon.com!

Fun Vintage Towels!

What a cool and fun book! I love vintage towels and this book shows hundreds of pictures of them. Just about every design you can think of is printed on these towels, including Black Americana, children, desserts, floral, gardening, spirits and lots more, all from the 1930's through 1960's. Excellent information on the history of the companies that made these towels plus information on textile artists. Interesting to read glossary and a chapter on how to launder vintage linens. Also shows wonderful old catalog and magazine advertisements for these towels including their original descriptions and prices which I loved reading. Also recommended "Fun Linens & Handkerchiefs" by Scofield & Zalamea.

Vintage tea towels: brightly colored roosters, radishes, red cherries, and aproned poodles are but a few of the cheery patterns that decorated kitchen towels in a by-gone era of Americana. Hundreds of charming images of homey innocence are documented and preserved in this beautiful book featuring high quality reproductions of a vanished art form. Highly recommended.

For the beginning weaver, this book is clearly written, the drawdowns are clear, and doing towels as you learn to weave is great, as errors don't really matter. I recommend this book to my beginning weavers I teach at my shop in SE Ohio, Spinning Turtle Yarns & Gifts

She kept going to the beach everyday so she could see him. The boy laid by the big tree so the girl started going to the same spot. They started to talk to each other everyday. Hilarious ways to display towels

Review Date: 2007-09-23
One might wonder about using a couple of towels to create, um, a work of art. But this book may change your mind. And when guests come over to your house, they may be amazed to see what awaits them when they expect to see a rather ordinary towel!

To prepare these creations, you need only one, two or three cotton towels. Usually, that means a large towel (roughly 30 inches by 50 inches) and a medium towel (roughly 17 inches by 28 inches). Once in a while, you may need a washcloth of about 12 inches square.

The results are truly amusing: representations of all sorts of animals, such as bats, dogs, rabbits, cobra, cows, crocodiles, donkeys, ducks, dinosaurs, deer, elephants, frogs, goats, gorillas, iguanas, cats, lobsters, monkeys, mice, birds, pigs, bears, seals, swans, and turtles. Instructions are given for forty different creations.

Review Date: 2006-06-14
I'm in awe of this terrific book! Not only did I learn mountains of information from it, the pictures are GORGEOUS. I was thrilled to have found yet-unpublished information about some of the top textile designers of the mid-20th century, as well as new information about the manufacturers. If you love vintage textiles, this is a must-have for your library!
