I operate a group home daycare in Michigan. Before we moved to our new location 3 and a half years ago, I was printing out single sheets of paper each day to send home with kids' daily info. This was a hassel, especially when you consider the cost of ink and paper..and the inconvenience of running out! In addition, I learned that some of the parents were keeping each and every paper that I sent home as keepsakes! This journal is spiral bound and perfect. I have ordered one for each child that I've cared for in the past 3 1/2 years! I have no idea what the total number has been. I keep a pile of these books on the piano by the front door and make notes throughout the day. It goes back and forth in the child's backpack each day. I would highly recomend this journal. I researched several similiar ones before I began buying this one. This one is the best because it works well for any age. Some are designed only for infants..and some only for preschoolers. If there is anything that doesn't apply (like a bottle), I just write NA in that space. It's perfect. This book has made communication much more efficient!

SUPER book idea !!!

Fabulous! Ms. Marvin has designed a wonderful product to keep the lines of communication open between childcare provider and parent. Communication is so important when providing quality childcare! Each page has ample space to record the events of the child's day. What a great idea! This book also will serve as a special keepsake as the child grows older.

As a professional childcare resource and former childcare provider, I was very impressed with this book. This is a must have for every parent and childcare provider!!

Objectivity and Answers

This book is a wealth of information; I've already tried many of the parenting techniques provided with great success. It never makes it back to my bookshelf for long because I am always referring to it. What's more, the information is presented in an objective, non-judgemental way. You are never made to feel like you're a "bad mother" just because you can't stay home from work or have trouble breastfeeding. It simply provides all the information you need, then the decision is up to you to decide what's best for you and your baby. A nice change from some of the other parenting books that seem to be written by authors who believe that their way is the only way.

This is my first parental experience for me and my wife .we expect a little girl in a few months. We are very excited and we are trying to get prepared as best as we can. The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Book of Pregnancy and Child Care was really a very good choice, it was recommended by a friend whose case is very similar to mine. The book is very good to read and use as a reference too, it is very detailed dealing with every case the mother may have from serious illness to leg crumbs .The book really covers all three stages of pregnancy, childbirth and childcare in a way that satisfies you and keeps you away from the headache of buying other books for such stages. Having such source of information covering mother health during and after pregnancy, baby's nutrition, signs and behavior milestones gave us too much confidence to deal with our first child in a professional way. One last comment is that the book is very bold at stating facts that may harm your baby like for example what smoking may cause to the baby. I think the book is reliable, complete and advanced

Delightful book about sibling rivalry

An absolutely wonderful book about a little girl who is the apple of everyone's eye until her baby brother arrives. How she deals with being out of the spotlight, and how she moves out of jealousy to a strong bond with her brother, makes a great story for the preschooler who is suddenly displaced by a new sibling. Our family copy has been passed around to friends so much it's in tatters. A pity it's out of print-- look for it in your library.

"The Colic Chronicles" is honest, practical help for the mothers of a colicky baby. The book is funny, witty, honest and reassuring. From start to finish, Kompare manages to cover each issue the mother of a colicky baby may face with humor and insight. She covers: How to handle the news, getting help, feelings of inadequacy, ways to soothe your colicky baby, and many more spot-on issues. A mom dealing with colic will find instant comfort and help without having to go to a support group!

This book was so cute and funny! I really liked that it had useful information, but wasn't preachy or patronizing. Kompare's ability to laugh at herself and see the humor in an admittedly dark situation made this book a pleasure to read. The "Countdown Calender" at the back was a great idea. I would recommend this book as a perfect baby shower or new mom gift. Can't wait to read more from this author.

conscious parenting

The fact that a man takes the time to consciously thing about parenting in this day and age is encouraging to me. While this book is one man's thoughts and ideas on parenting, it also creates a space for anyone to consider, consciously and mindfully, how they are chooosing to parent. The stories are inspiring, the methodolgies thought provoking, the foundation is spiritual, and the intention, honorable.

Connecting the parent's soul and the child's soul in a beautiful way

Author Dawson Church endows a beautiful sensitivity to his beaming text about communing with your unborn child. It's a beautifully insightful book that broaches the bridge between parents and their unborn children. In special exercises, the author describes how to attune to the soul of your child while in the womb, to find a source of inspiration, connection and information that would otherwise be unavailable. It has great advice for conscious parenting, plus how to heal the childhood wounds that get in the way of each of us having healthy mother and father archetypes. This is a valuable, inspirational message regarding what is essential to healthy, human interaction, not just for birth, but for life. Any becoming or new parent will glean wonderful gems of wisdom that will completely change their experience of having children.

From knowing nothing, to knowing the very best!

This book is absolutely out-of-this-world fabulous! I am a first time mother and had no idea about weaning. This book has given me the tools to help my daughter be an exceptionally good eater. It has recipes in it, a day by day guideline for the beginning stages of weaning and fantastic information. It is the only book I've needed for weaning. There was only one small piece of information that was missing from the book; after we started weaning my daughter started crying when eating, and I did some research and learned that in the very, very beginning food should be really runny, like water running off the spoon. She was just learning to get it off the spoon, and if it is too thick, their choking-mechanism kicks in. I have a very healthy daughter, who is exclusively breastfed and this book is designed to help increase your baby's iron levels as they start to diminish after 6 months (if exclusively breastfed). This is an absolute must for any parent who wants their child to eat healthy right from the start. 10/10!

Excellent - a very helpful guide

Weaning...sheesh. Where to start? What type of food to introduce first? When to introduce the next new foods? When do move to finger foods? Table food? AHHH. I really found weaning intimidating with my little one, feeling that if I put a foot wrong, my little one would turn into a fussy eater. So this book was a HUGE help to me. Gina Ford lays out in her no nonsense manner a day to day approach to weaning, what foods to introduce, what time of day to fit in their solids, and how to do all this combined with milk feeds. She has great recipes for each stage, and I feel very much in control of my little ones diet and it is not a battle for her to eat :) perfect - I would highly recommend this book if you are a new mom and need a step by step approach to weaning.
