FANTASTIC BOOK

Review Date: 2006-05-16
I bought this book because we have all of the Baby Prodigy Products. My wife is expecting our second child this summer. Even though we have already been through the newborn stage once, I have to say that I have learned so much from this book that I didn't know for our first child. My wife and I really enjoyed it. It is easy and fast to read and the writer has a sense of humor too. I loved all of the stories in the beginning of each chapter. I think all of the educational games in the book will help us stimulate our baby and help her develop at a much faster rate than our first child. It is definitely a must have for new parents, second time parents, grandparents, etc. Everyone can do the stimulating activities that this book provides. Great for caregivers and daycares too. Our daughter was also coliky and now I have some great tips if our newborn has it. We have so many pregancy and child development books but this by far is the BEST. It is the Best fourteen dollars we ever ever spent.

GOOD WORK! Hope to see a toddler book too.

Filled with simple tips that are easy to implement, as well as more extreme measures covered on a room by room basis, "Baby Proofing Basics" is a must-have for any parent, babysitter, or host who wants to keep their home hazard free.

Concise but very thorough

This is an excellent book. It goes into a great amount of detail on how to "baby proof" your home, particularly your kitchen and bathroom. All advice is explained simply and concisely, and drawings are included as well. The book also talks about child safety products a parent can buy and guidelines for purchasing infant items such as walkers, strollers, and toys. Information is also included about outdoor safety, holiday safety, and poison prevention. I highly recommend this book to anyone concerned about child safety.

Great Baby Shower Game Book!

Review Date: 2008-12-16
There are so many cheesy baby shower games out there that a lot of people do not enjoy playing. This book made it easy and fun with no work need from me since it provided the game sheets. So many enjoyed the games that I had requests for the name of the book so they could buy it too for any baby showers they would host in the future.

Great Baby Shower Game Book

I am planning a baby shower for my daughter (the first time I have organized a baby shower). I have done numerous searches online for baby shower games and party ideas etc. and have found plenty of free information detailing games and ideas. I did not want to spend a lot of time constructing and printing up games however and this book is absolutely wonderful in that respect. The book comes with eight shower games and includes 15 copies of each game. The pages (a golden color with cute graphics) are perforated at the top (top spiral bound book) and tear out for immediate use. The book has only 3 brief pages in the beginning that outline the book, the games in the book and suggested prizes for the baby shower games, so if you are looking for a detailed baby shower book then this is not the one for you. If you are looking for a quick short cut to some cute games, then this is the way to go.

I bought this book for my new grandson. His parents are really into early education, so at the ripe age of 8 months, they are teaching him sign language as well as a few other languages, to broaden his future.

Good First Book on Baby Signs

Review Date: 2008-12-31
Our daughter is only 9 months old right now, a bit too young for signing yet, but recently several parents we know shared their positive experiences with using baby sign language that I figured we should get an early start with introducing both her and us to it. Last week I just came across this book in a store, and it looked like a good first book for children to begin looking at. It's a sturdy board book that includes 13 useful words that your baby will want to use -- milk, water, more, all done, diaper, sleepy, it hurts, help me, mom, dad, cat, dog, and book. As a parent, there are a few other words I'd also like to know getting started (such as, there is the sign for "more" but what about first communicating that they are "hungry" in the first place?) -- but for a child's board book, it still seems to be a good one.

Help your baby communicate

Reviewed by Cayden (age 3-1/2), Max (age 18 months) Aures and Mom for Reader Views (2/08)

"Baby Signs" is a sturdy board book that provides 13 signs that are helpful for a baby to learn so that he is able to communicate before he can speak. Among some of the signs taught in the book are milk, more, diaper, book and sleepy.

Cayden: Points to the cover and says, "He's a baby, like you are a baby Max!"
Max: "Baby"

Cayden: "He threw it! There was milk in there!" (referring to the baby throwing his bowl when he was done eating)
Mom: "Who does that?"
Cayden: "Babies like Max!"
Mom: "Maybe we should teach him the sign for `all done'"

Cayden: Pointing to the illustration of how to sign diaper: "What are you supposed to do here?"
Max: Pointing to the diaper that the baby put on his head "Hat, Hat!"

Mom: "What was your favorite sign to learn?"
Cayden: "I like this one! The dog one!" Then they both stick out their tongues and pant (which is the sign for dog).

Parent's comments: Cayden and Max had already known a couple of signs that were in "Baby Signs" and recognized them right away when we got to that page. The book definitely held their interest and the illustrations as to how to do the signs along with the written directions were very helpful. I think that there is just the right number of signs so as not to be too overwhelming for a young child.

Just what a new big sibling needs
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2003-07-25
This is the book to help an older sibling deal with a new baby. It empowers to older brother to feel that he has a special role for the new baby that only he can feel. It worked magic with my 2 1/2 year old when he first had a new baby sister. And, we still at times read it now that he is 5 and she is 2 1/2. And, my kiddos have a magical relationship (most of the time)

Good book to help those with new siblings.

This is a very good family related book, in full color, that tells how a big brother relates and adjusts to a new baby brother's addition in the family. It tells about building an excellent relationship with the newest member, and is a joy to read. It would be of interest to students in the seventh grade.

Innovative Advice for New Moms
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 2000-06-13
This book offers some new twists to the time honored advice that everyone has heard from their mothers, grandmothers and friends to the lady in line at the grocery store. Ms. Murphy offers practical tidbits ranging from making the baby laugh to more serious matters like leaving the baby with a sitter. All advice is offered with a sense of humor. As a mother a few times over, I can honestly say that I enjoyed the advice and found the format to be engaging and easy to read. I would definitely recommend this book, whether to a new mom or a mom for the fifth time!

This book is great. It is simple and easy to follow the directions. I started off with just a basic message but now I even use it for helping my son with teething, constipation and sinus problems. I love it and I'm so glad I bought it.

My daughters continuously request this book when we go to the library. They decided to purchase it the next time we go to a book store. They enjoyed the pictures and were eager to see what would occur the next evening in the story. A Fun Book!

My son loved this book! As the recent "winner" of a newborn baby sister, my two-and-a-half year-old son was most interested in any book that addressed his concerns. He asked Mommy and Daddy to read THIS book night after night, and it was evident that it helped him with his own feelings of anxiety, and love, for his new sister. It's a very enjoyable book, with lovely pictures

Babies love to look at babies!

I bought this book for our first daughter and we read it to pieces! When the second baby started taking an interest, I re-purchased this book and it is her absolute favorite. Babies do indeed enjoy looking at photos of other babies (and the early letter reinforcement can't hurt). This book is exceptionally well priced and shouldn't be missed.

My oldest son was a late talker but could communicate every word in this book. Let me explain...for each letter of the alphabet there is a real picture: C for clap has a picture of kids clapping. My son would clap when we got to that page and jump on the J page, point up at the U page, etc...The pictures are great. They're simple, multicultural and colorful. This is also one of my youngest son's favorite books because he loves books with real pictures of other children. Be prepared to read this one over and over again. It's been so well loved by all my children that I just bought 5 copies to give as gifts (although I'll be keeping one for myself in hopes of one day sharing it with a grandchild or two.)

My son loves this book! We borrowed it from the library but I am planning to buy it now. There are so many things to look at and I love how the babies are modeling good behavior like picking up toys. :) He adores the puppy dog on the animal page in particular. We have to read it over and over!!

My 11 month baby girl simply loves this book! It's one of her favorites. She keeps pointing to the babies while I read it to her. It's a good help for moms to explain babies their rutines. Would highly recommend it.
