Furthermore, it offers welcome help in a difficult area: verbs.

Some of the sizes are for infants, but some are sized up to 4 years. This is a lovely book to add to your knitting library.

Facts of life

I bought this for a niece. It's very factual and easy to understand. It's better to receive information from a true and factual source rather than hearing from peers who really don't know what they are talking about. Having the facts makes them better prepared to not get into something they can't handle.

Excellent Resource

This book has many illustrations that add to the text of the book. The pictures are tactful and very matter of fact. The text is very factual and very matter of fact as well. This is the type of book that you can pull out to explain one small part about the 'facts of life'. Each two page spread or so covers one small section about the facts of life. It is a little bit simple for older preteens but it will have some very good information for this age as well, particularly if htis is the first time they are hearing the information.

In Babies For Beginners, author David Brizer starts at the literal beginning of conception and then takes the reader on an hilarious but accurate, step-by-step process in how baby develops within the mother, her labor, childbirth, and development through infancy. Brizer covers child-rearing basics, genetic, environmental , social and psychological influences, toddlerhood, and more. The fun and informative texts is profusely illustrated on every page by the cartoon artistry of Ricardo Castaneda. Babies For Beginners is the most reader-friendly "birds and bees" book on where babies come from (and what to do with them once they get here) ever written.

Amazing proof that Babies do remember their birth!

An excellent book for prospective parents. A must read for Drs, labor and delivery nurses, and doulas. This book gave me insight on my three son's births and how early comments did affect their lives. It also increased my awareness of the importance of making positive comments at the births I attended and creating a loving, welcoming presence for the newborn. It does make a difference!

All expectant moms should read this

The best part of this book is its collection of awesome, authenticated birth (and pre-birth) memories. They support the belief that babies are beings of a very high level of consciousness at the time of birth, to a degree that most people would never suspect. This book belongs on a list about spirituality as much as it belongs on a list about birth. The memories that many people are able to retrieve about their births indicate that tiny infants indeed come into the world "trailing clouds of glory". Their emotions and level of understanding at birth are those of fully evolved spiritual beings, who--one assumes--lose their memories of a former spiritual existence as they mature. Anyone who is truly open to the message of this book will be deeply moved by stories such as the one about the baby in the womb who was worried about his mother because he understood that she was bleeding and near death. After reading this book, you're very likely to want your baby to have as gentle and natural a birth as possible--and you just might be careful what you say in the delivery room!

This is a wonderful revision of the classic parent's guide to raising a child with Down syndrome. The previous edition (edited by Stray-Gundersen) has been updated with the most current terminology and research, plus dozens of photos of adorable babies and children. The book is highly compassionate, but also accurate, factual, and objective.

An excellent book for first time parents

I was advised to buy this book while I was still pregnant. Thank goodness!! It is a common sense approach to living with a new born baby. Dr. Christopher Green has a wonderful sense of humour which comes through in this book. For instance...A kick in the shins will cure a husbands 3am deafness to a crying baby...His controlled crying technique was a success with my little boy who now had no problem going to sleep. My advice to any new parent or parent to be is BUY IT!!!

ESSENTIAL guide for that first year with a baby !

Christopher Green's book made made my husband's and my first year with our beautiful baby girl a whole lot easier - and lots of fun too. It is reassuring, written with a sense of humour, and gets right to the point about what you see your baby doing, is it normal, and what to do about it. The number of times 'Babies!' was pulled down from the bookshelf - at all hours of day and night - refered to and followed made it one of the most valued possessions in our home. From 'Babies!', move on to 'Toddler Taming' for more of the same practical, easy to follow and comfortable advice. He really knows what he's talking about.

This is a beautiful book about, and for, babies- the text and, especially, the illustrations are fabulous. This book was given to me over 17 years ago and I still cherish it- it is a book of rare quality that is a pleasure to read to someone special or have read to you. Parents, siblings, and babies alike can bond over a creation of such quality and beauty.

When I was a little girl I was part of a scholastic book club and this was one I picked up. Now that I'm a mother, I've kept the book for my daughter's enjoyment. She loves looking at other babies and when she sees the illustrations in this book she goes crazy. The pictures are very clear and capture her attention. The story is easy for children of all ages to follow, showing how babies interact and what they experience throughout the day. It takes me back to my own childhood everytime I read it.

We bought this book for my granddaughter (now 9) when she was a baby. She absolutely loved it. She would let her baby brothers "borrow it" but would never relinquish it. We tried to find a copy for my newest grandbaby and when we couldn't, I asked her if she would relinquish it now. She still would not. She says she is saving it for her own babies. Needless to say, it is a much loved book. We are so happy we found another copy oof it.

A delightful photo album of babies and toddlers
from tears to laughter, play to sleep. Baby
and toddler audiences are mesmerized by colorful
photos of their peers. The minimal text is fun to
read and listen to.

The only fault I have with this book is that it
should be a board book-it takes quite a beating!
(My 7 year old daughter enjoyed it as an infant
and still does.)

How sad that it is out of print!

This book is a masterpiece. Dr. Stirt gives a wonderful portrayal of a parent with a critically ill child. His heartfelt comments interspersed with the medical record is a marvelous touch that I have never seen before. I only hope that someday he continues his writing career.

The Other Side of the Coin

For Joe Stirt, his daughter's struggle to survive the first few months of life forces him and his wife to view the hospital at which they work from the patient's point of view. For the reader, this book is a look into some of the true ins and outs of the medical profession. Foremost in all of this, however, is the stinging reality that their daughter's life, teetering on the brink of collapse, is not in their hands.

For anyone whose loved ones must pay the hospital a visit, this book is a must-read account of what strings one father and mother pull to try to save the life of their premature baby daughter. And for those familiar with the medical profession, this story is a humbling awakening to attitudes and practices of the medical profession from the patient's standpoint.

Stirt's flowing style and unfeigned suspense makes Baby impossible to put down. I recommend this book to all readers.
