I highly recommend this book to all bereaved parents that have lost a baby. It warmed my soul and offered me comfort shortly after my loss. I've had this beautiful book for nearly 4 years now, and I still read it. "Mrs. Duck and The Woman" has helped give me hope for better days ahead and offered me insight into my own feelings of grief. This short but very touching and sweet story let me see that my little angel continues to live on within my heart.

A beautifully written story about a mother coming to terms with the loss of her son, Dakota. She befriends a duck who has shared a similar loss and it offers a new perspective on what has occurred. Wonderful imagery, wonderful story. An excellent book for the newly bereaved.

This book is a gift from the heart of a poet and grieving mother. Its message is tender and yet strong, providing energy for the difficult journey onward from loss. In its pages, you are touched by a real person who knows exactly what she is talking about. With just a few powerful words, Kara Jones describes the grief of a mother for her stillborn child and offers compassionate help. Enhanced by an exquisite format and illustrations that are visual poetry, "Mrs. Duck and the Woman" is a small masterpiece.

I was given this book after my twin sons passed away. Full of beautiful, ethereal illustrations and a touching story, Mrs. Duck and the Woman helped me on my journey through grief. I include it in the recommended reading section of my own book, A Different Kind of Mother. Mrs. Duck and the Woman is recommended for any mom suffering the loss of a baby.

This is the first book that my son loved... from the time he was a few months old till now at 19 months he still loves it. I think he feels proud of himself that he can share a role in reading the book. He turns to each page.. he can EASILY open up the flap because the flaps are large and sturdy and he loves saying BOO! to all the neat things he finds and can touch. I really feel that because of this book my son grew a love for reading and i often find him reading and playing with this book himself. The book is holding up very well even though it is the most read book in our house.

My child received this book as a gift, and being very concerned about my child's education wanted a variety of books to read my child. This book is the one he wants to read. He LOVES this book. It allows him to turn the pages and be "surprised" at the next item, using his motor skills as well. If I read another book to him, Bathtime Peekaboo must be read before and after each book. I don't know why but he just laughs and enjoys himself totally reading this book. I never would have bought it for my child, but now seeing him with this book am looking at purchasing the others like it in the collection.

We own Baby Says, Bedtime, Bathtime, and Playtime Peekaboo books. Our daughter is particularly attached to Baby Says and Bedtime Peekaboo. She became attached to these books around 9 months of age and still reads them daily and she's 20 months old now. She loves opening the flaps and feeling each item. Bathtime and Playtime Peekaboo don't seem to stimulate her as much in the touch department, but she still likes looking at them. She has spent countless hours looking through the books herself. Unfortunately she ripped several pages out when she was younger and are now taped back in. They are sturdy but when a child is determined to rip a board book, it will happen. These are must have books. So much so we are ordering Farm and Dress Up Peekaboo.

she loves them- it allows her to be interactive- opening each page. Since she can't read/understand, it's a way for her to be a part of the "reading" process. she opens each flap and touches/feels the page with the new texture. she loves it, they're her favorites. I would say the bedtime and playtime and bathtime are better than the "baby says peekaboo" b/c i think she likes all the toys she finds on the pages, whereas that one is revealing babys. but she still likes the whole process of all the books.

Great for babies

I bought this after my 10 month old showed an interest in another "lift the flap" book.

He adores this one. He spends as much time alone with it as he does his favorite toys. He remembers the pages and goes back to them to lift the flap to see the duckie and frog, etc. underneath. It's a great way to get small infants interested in books.

Now my son runs his fingers down the pages of all his books in the expectation he can lift up something to see what is underneath.

This is one of my 16-month-old's favorite books! She wants to read it every day! The illustrations are incredible--truly some of the best artwork you can find in children's books. And the "story line" is simple enough that she can happily predict what's coming next. The repetitive nature of the text ["Peekaboo! I see..."] also makes it easy for a baby/toddler to follow along. I wish we had discovered this book sooner... Not sure if this book will become too simple as she approaches 2. I will definitely be giving this book as baby shower gifts!

I ordered this book because my school recommended it as an appropriate and outstanding book for 2's. I received it, a little dissapointed in the lack of story line; however, my little budding toddler absolutely loves it. She guesses the "I see" before I turn the pages. And I do have to admit that I love the illustrations and the sweetness of the book. I just wish I had bought this when she was an infant and I REALLY wish (listen editors) that it was on board book, because I would love to give it as gifts to expecting moms!

My 16 month son has been intrigued with this book since the first time he saw it. He brings it to us everyday for us to read. When we can't read it to him he then sits and flips thru the pages himself.

Wonderful clear illustrations for small child.

Need a new baby (or 1st birthday) gift? Are you tired of buying blankets, booties, and bunny sleepers? Then here's a gift I love to give that is guaranteed to unwrap a smile!

"Peekaboo! I see..." wee readers instantly drawn into this heartwarming story based on the popular children's game. It features an adorable African-American toddler sporting an inquisitive nature and naturally textured hair. I couldn't tell if the child is male or female, which makes it appealing to everyone.

"Peekaboo! I see..." eager little readers searching soft pastel drawings for clues. What DOES the child see? The tip of a tail. The top of a hat. Turn the page to discover a playful puppy or laughing grandma. Award-winner Rachel Isadora uses only 53 words, printed in large, easy-to-read type, to keep you guessing.

"Peekaboo! I see..." pleased young readers requesting this book again and again. The first evening my youngest daughter spent with a baby sitter, she cried when she realized Mama and Daddy were gone. Thankfully a warm lap, soothing voice, and repeats of Peekaboo Morning comforted her until we returned.

For another heartwarming book by Isadora featuring simple text with large, easy-to-read print, and captivating illustrations, read In the Beginning.

This book contains great 3 minute prayers to help you focus on the Giver of all good gifts, as you raise your little one. The prayers begin the day you bring your baby home from the hospital and go through many of the things you face in the first few months with a newborn. It's a wonderful book to use when you want to spend time with the Lord but have little energy left after sleepless nights and daily duties.

I am a first time mom to a beautiful baby boy. I was given this book as a shower gift and didn't start reading it until I and my baby came home from the hospital. Every page I read was like a breath of fresh air. It was like Mrs. Guffey was inside my head, my heart, and my home. I found so much encouragement and support in her testimony. I felt the way she felt some days. I acted the way she acted on others. This book lifted my heart when I needed it most. I highly reccomend it to be given as a gift. It will be appreciated by anyone who knows how very hard and completely wonderful motherhood is. It will remind you that you have a friend in the lonliest and most joyful times.

Angela Guffey, in her new book, Prayers for New Mothers, will touch the hearts of mothers of all ages and stages of life. She has captured the emotions and memories of motherhood. Some prayers took me back to a memory of my child at that age or stage, and I felt so blessed and thankful to have that memory restored with such clarity. Other prayers were specific to needs and situations that I am dealing with now. These prayers encouraged me to press on and to continue on my journey to become the mother that God wants me to be. Many of these prayers also touched deeper personal emotions that I thought no one else would understand. The prayer was a reminder that God knows our every thought and feeling and desires to comfort us. Joy also came from the eloquent expression of these emotions from such an experienced mom.

The Pregnant Womans Companion is a great book - I wish I had been able to read it during my first pregnancy, but I found it to be a wonderful book to read and re-read during my second and third pregnancies. It is unique in that it really helps the reader to be proactive in managing and shaping the big changes that pregnancy and a new family situation bring. I recommend this to all who are touched by a new pregnancy.

There are many books available about pregnancy and birth, but this is one of my favorites, and my clients as a childbirth educator also find it to be one of the best of the best. We like the acknowledgement that pregnancy affects a woman's body, mind, spirit, and relationships, and that the transition through pregnancy and childbirth into motherhood is often a challenging one. And we like the positive, constructive, individualized approach to helping readers meet the challenge so they can feel good about this major life transition.

The Pregnant Woman's Companion is definitely worth reading.

This is the book that I give to all my newly pregnant friends. This book tells it like it is and offers great advice for the pregnant women. "Confessionals" from other pregnant women help remind the reader they are not alone! The author comes across as the friend all pregnant women wish they had - honest and straight forward.

A nice alternative to the typical pregnancy book that can be consulted throughout pregnancy and beyond.

I read this while pregnant with my 2nd child, so much of what was presented came as no surprise. Still, it was a very good review of the emotional roller coaster I think all women experience while our bodies go through the miraculous transition of creating a person!

This book is excellent in that it addresses the emotional side of pregnancy (vs. the physical). I think I would have really benefited from reading it while pregnant with my first. It touches on the transition to a pregnant body, as well as after the birth into parenthood. She also addresses how to deal with unsolicited advice, the changes in your friendships once you become a parent, as well as the changes in your relationship with your spouse. The information is well-organized and easy to read. I'm keeping it in mind as a future baby shower gift!

Table of contents:
* The Truth Behind Your Pregnant Glow
* Strategy One - Give yourself the best by creating and calling upon a committed support system
* Strategy Two - Allow yourself to let go of social standards and create a new relationship with your body
* Strategy Three - Pare down commitments to a limited set of priorities
* Strategy Four - Ease your way into parenthood during your nine months of pregnancy
* Strategy Five - Call upon your internal strengths when facing a situation you cannot control
* Strategy Six - Watch for opportunities to balance the ups and downs of family life
* Strategy Seven - Make new friends and consciously choose what you want to do with the old
* Strategy Eight - Find your way to gentleness with your spouse
* Strategy Nine - Lighten your load by facing your pregnancy losses

Rosie's Babies draws us into the 'pretend' world of the little girl Rosie and her teddy and rabbit - her 'babies', as she tries to keep her mother's attention during the bathing, feeding and putting to bed of their new baby. Both the mother and the daughter are warm, caring and nurturing and Rosie's reports of how she looks after her babies are very touching. My (then) two-year-old son loved this book as we awaited the arrival of his new baby brother, and now, a year and a half later, it's a firm favorite on the bookshelf. The 'punchline' of the story reminds us what it's really all about ' 'Don't forget me, Mommy!'

The S.T.A.B.L.E. Program provides an excellent overall view to not only stabilizing infants for transport, but caring for them on an everyday basis. STABLE works as an excellent adjuct to NRP, but is NOT a replacement for NRP. I highly recommend this book for anyone involved in the care of neonates - especially those in rural hospitals who rarely deal with ill neonates. As a nurse in a regional referral center NICU, I view this program as a valuable asset to my career.

I'm thrilled with this easy-to-follow book. Lots of photos of a "real Mom" signing useful things. It's broken into activities: around the house, out and about, toys, games, daily routines, crafts and the alphabet. There are descriptions on how to execute the signs. I'm looking for more books by the author. This one got me started with my 7-month-old...and I want to learn more! Maybe in a couple months the little guy will sign what he's thinking about (I can hardly wait!).

I just finished reading this wonderful little book. I am a big fan of Monta's first book and used signing with both my daughters. In reading "Sign, Sing and Play" it was great to know that my second daughter did a lot of the same things Monta's second child did when it came to signing... understanding signs, but not signing back to me. Now that I've tried several of the games and songs with my baby, she's signing like crazy! Thank you, Monta!

It provides answers that many pracitioners need in a clear, concise manner. Anyone working with breastfeeding mothers, either prenatally or post partum, should have this book in their library. Bravo!

Bursting with hard-to-find information, this book features some of the finest minds in the world offering cutting-edge insights on challenges that lactation consultants and other health-care professionals face every day. In her own chapters, editor Catherine Watson Genna addresses tongue tie, sensory integration problems, neurological issues and other topics. Chapter authors include international luminaries such as Nils Bergman, Christina Smillie, Rebecca Glover, Diane Wiessinger, Linda Smith, and Kerstin Nyqvist. This book is a must-have for anyone working with breastfeeding families, including occupational therapists and speech-and-language pathologists, whose training is often based primarily on bottle-feeding norms.

After working with mothers and babies for over 35 years, it is rare when I find a book on breastfeeding that really excites me or teaches me something new. This book is both challenging and thought provoking. My colleagues and I have already had discussions about re-examining how we evaluate a baby's sucking skills. I wish I could afford to give this book to every pediatrician, ENT, and speech therapist who has told me that a baby didn't have any problems suckling or wasn't tongue tied. Hopefully this book will help shift the knowledge paradigm about infant suck and a babies ability to breastfeed. It should be required reading for anyone who works with babies.
