This is a great book for any would-be or active real estate investor. It raises the issues that we all need to be aware of at any point in an investing program. It's also a short book and a quick read. Tracy Sandberg "tells it like it is", shares his mistakes, makes us think, makes us shudder...and tells us he recovered and did it right the next time.

I started an entire screen printing business with this book!

In the early 1980's I started a screen printing business out of my home. I purchased How to Print T-shirts for Fun and Profit by Scott Fresener and Pat Fresener. This is the bible of screen printing. It is the best "how to" book I have ever purchased. With this book I started a part time screen printing business; and for a while, a full time business. I had the business for over a year.

The book taught me a common sense approach on how to build a screen printing business from the ground up, the equipment to purchase and how to price and market the products. It also showed me where to buy shirts, and caps, inks and other supplies. It was only 175 pages long, but was full of ideas, resources and illustrations. Few words were wasted!

Good look at hidden history

Edmund Lee Drago does a good job in his use of primary sources to create what is essentiually a docmuentary history of the Black Red Shirts.

To novices-The "Red Shirts" of South Carolina formed after the KKK was outlawed as the terrorist schock troops desgined to get the (mostly Black) Republicans out of power during the Reconstruction era. Sadly, it worked. Dr. Drago disscusses the littel-known fact that a number of these men were actually Black! He explains why this has not been publicized over the years (and not JUST for the obvious reasons) and provides us with transcripts of trial testimonies of the political violence of Reconstruction-era South Carolina as well as WPA Slave Narrative interviews with ex-slaves in the 1930s who rode with the Red Shirts in their youth. Since the latter two come from the own words of the participants, it adds to the value as I am personally quite fond of books that use documentary histories and books of obscure history.

As is the case of Larry Koger's "Black Slaveowners" and a book I once read (whose title I forget) about men of remote Jewish ancestry who served as Nazis, this goes to show that history does not always follow nice neat lines of logic.

A fun item this beige on black T-shirt offers us the traditional jolly roger along with the advice that "We are always on a quest to reveal your hidden treasures." A great goof, this shirt is made of good quality cotton and is a definite attention-getter.

Good plot, more plot than frequently found, but easily followed. More characterization, but not confusing.
More suspense, but not frightening.
Real kids can read this or have it read to them and feel it's about other real kids. They can identify.

shadows of the brown sahibs

from a very mofussil backdrop of bharat and not india, this book delves deep into the feudal and colonial remains in the collective psyche of the working system here. the thread of the book weaves through the incidents which have largely remained the same. the hero is one who has been a 'beneficiary' of the government's blinkered programme of macawley's system of 'clerical education'. and that is what he becomes in the process. a baboo in an ambience of a small place where only half of the things are moth eaten and innocence still finds a space in the relationships. of the protagonist and his wife, him and the colleagues and with his landlord.

the book is very political one in terms of a typical indian system, where the fear and punishment dont crop from rationals. infact they go beyond. the fear of sahibs, the considerations of his personal needs, his wife's need of a servant, the trnsition of real into a nightmare of sorts...the book keeps the reader tied to it with its forceful thread and a very familiar, very coomonplace, very indian setting. that its only a shirt which decides the freedom and bondage of his 'economic empowered status' is a statement on humanity at large on free india.

I was looking for a resource for shirts, and I checked out "Shirtmaking" at my library, but I found this book to be more informative, at least for what I was looking for, than the other. There's more tips in here that the latter and it's quick to read through due to the step by step pictures on it. I think the best part of the book is the part about easing in a sleeve cap with the differential feed of the serger. It's just genious!

I'm keen to review as many Newcastle writers and Newcastle themed books, I've been once or twice to the city and it's something special. This one has to be in there.

A nostalgic look at the heroes we have cheered on from the terraces of St James's.

Jackie Milburn, Shearer, Macdonald, Hughie Gallagher, they're all there. A must for all Newcastle fans.
