"Voting With Our Pants Down" is a narrative of current politics and the views of young voters who are ready to take on the world. The author draws on personal experiences ranging from dorm room antics to traveling abroad post 9-11. He is insightful, educated on political topics, and witty.

Grabow draws heavily from submissions to his first book, "What We Think" and uses those topics to illustrate the young voter psyche. Being a member of the Millennial Generation, Grabow can write about his peers in a way very few other (and older) authors can. Refraining from touting much of his own political leanings, Grabow instead relies on statistics (and sometimes personal experience) to explain how youth are voting. After reading this book it is clear the author knows his subject matter personally. As a fellow member of the Millennial Generation, I appreciate the research and candor in depicting young voters.

Ever wonder why the youth of this country is so drawn to Barack Obama? Grabow answers this question and more in a fun, interesting, and insightful book about the youth vote. A great read for parents, teachers, and the kids that continue to perplex them.

The best book on young voters on the market.

This is the best book on young voters possible! It is smart, witty, as disarming and hopeful as they are and scholarly at the same time. Rob gets young voters, the art of writing, and humanity with a sweep of an exceptionally intelligent pen. As you read, you say, "He didn't just say that, did he?" He did and he hit the the core and the truth of the issue and gives the reader gift after gift on insight on this most remarkable generation to come along---possible ever. Thank God that they at least have Rob as the spokesperson they are being denied by a press who has no idea of who these 44,000,000 young voters are!

Entertaining and informative

If you're looking for a book that goes into deep analysis of the current campaigns for the American presidency, or for a book that gives a history of American politics, this isn't the book you're looking for. But, if you are a political junkie like myself and want some light-hearted reading about politics to compliment the daily dose of CNN, Fox News, MSNBC and the like, then this is what you need.

The author is young and touts his already impressive resume of traveling the globe and meeting people from all over the world. His youth and his multicultural experience serve him well, as he is able to cull from a wide range of sources good insight into the future of American politics. Some stories made me laugh, others made me excited, some even frustrated - but without a doubt, by the end I had a better feeling for the political landscape that is to come. What better to have in the midst of a presidential race that has been focused on 'change'?

Since ladies never wore trousers in 1851, the appearance of Libby Miller in Seneca Falls, New York in such shocking attire stopped traffic. Libby's costume was meant to be worn at European health resorts. Libby's cousin was Elizabeth Stanton, a "revolutionary" in favor of voting rights for women. She copied this outfit to the horror of her father and her son.

But, these "immodest" bloomer costumes were being worn for real reasons. Do you think it's safe to climb the stairs at night with a baby in one hand and a candle in the other? When the idea for this freeing fashion reached Amelia Bloomer, she reported the story in her journal, The Lily, and requests poured in from other women for sewing instructions, and the newspaper reporters of the day officially named this fashion the "bloomer!"

Shortly after, Susan B. Anthony joined the crusade and also cut her hair in the Senaca Falls barbershop. Further defying the standards of the day, Amelia, Elizabeth and Susan started a lecture tour, inviting the criticism and insults from all the expected sources. However, some who came to laugh stayed to listen and learn, and an era of women's rights came to be.

Remarkably charming illustrations by Mary Morgan add to this humorous but informative telling of a sensational story. Bloomers! should be in every library and school.

A woman dressed in ankkle length blomers arrives in Seneca Falls, NY, in 1851. People are shocked. Women have been bound by corsets and floor length dresses "that sweep the floor." The town fathers read a book called, "Ruling a Wife," which praised wives who "submit and obey." Excuse me! Elizabeth Stanton embarrassed her son by wearing bloomers to his school. Amelia Bloomer printed a picture of these liberating and comfortable garments in her newspaper, "The Lily." "Women needed freedom not only from drunken husbands but also from cumbersome, crippling clothes." Women were "not parlor ornaments or mere playthings for man," and that a woman is "man's equal, and not his slave." Allowing women to run for office and to vote was Bloomer's radical thought. Elizabeth Stanton and Susan B. Anthony traveled the country speaking for woman's rights, wearing bloomers. Before theeir speeches began they were spreading the concept that women be allowed choices and equal rights. I am 50. When I was a child, women were not allowed to wear pants in the workplace. No pantsuits. No kidding. Rhoda Blumberg's book makes this piece of history come alive. Mary Morgan's illustrations are a treat.

This book is an excellent read and incredibly useful. We are business consultants and we refer our customers to it constantly, mention it in our seminars and recommend it to anyone who will listen. This book has down to earth common sense info that helps anyone in any size business. Interesting and easy to read and yet straight to the point.

This is the best business book I have read in a LONG TIME!!

The Best Practical Business/Management Book I've Read

As a manager, entrepreneur and CEO, I've read most of the management, sales, and business books. While they all (or at least most of them) have some useful and practical information, "By the Seat of Your Pants" is the first book that gave me information I was able to put into practice the next day! This book is a very easy read, crammed with lots great examples from Tom Gegax's business and personal life. His self-deprecating humor, and easy 1st person writing style make the book that much more enjoyable. But don't let the easiness of the writing style fool you - this book gives solid, business based, tried and true advice. I literally read the entire book in one weekend, and then started to re-read it the next day with a highlighter and notepad.

I also have "put my money where my mouth (review) is... I have purchased copies of the book to give to the managers that work for me and for the business development consultant to my non-profit organization.

This book should be a "Must Read" for all new business owners or managers and will form a cornerstone to their library. More experienced managers will also gain wonderful insights and problem solving examples. Everyone who reads this book will be re-vitalized and take away several tips, tricks and techniques that will positively impact their business and/or personal life.

Best, most comprehensive management guide I've read

I received an advance copy of this book, and although I have read hundreds of books on business management techniques and theories, I found this to be the most comprehensive and realistic guide to the proper management mindset. The concepts regarding balancing process execution and building perfect teams are dead-on, and I love the ability I have to turn to particular sections as needed for management situations. I am a director at a large international corporation, and this book will remain on my desk for years to come.

One can't put forth their B game when they are attempting to lose those pounds - one needs to put forth total effort or it simply is not going to work. "Getting Into Your Pants: Add 10+10 for Life!" is a deftly composed and easy to follow dieting guide to help anyone start to shed those pounds - and unlike most fad diets, it promotes a change that will push readers to not lose them for a few months but to keep them off for their entire lives, avoiding the up and down hilly slope so many advertised diet plans promote. "Getting Into Your Pants: Add 10+10 for Life!" is highly recommended for community library collections dedicated to health and weight loss and for anyone who, as the title says, wants to get into those pants.

This is my favorite childcare book right next to How to Talk So Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Will Talk by Faber and Mazlish. Why? First of all every chapter has useful, ready-to-use and easy to remember tips instead of having to wade through pages and pages and pages of child rearing philosophy to get to it. I've used many of them dealing with my four children and with great results. Secondly, the author has a refreshingly positive and compassionate view of children which is important and contagious. Her term "creative disciplinarian" is interesting, teaching one to become aware and alert to a given situation instead of just dishing out punishment in robot-like fashion. This book has many important elements of several other child rearing books that I've read but all in one place that you'll want to reach for again and again. I highly recommend it and thank you Dr. Kuzma.

This book is a must-have for all parents of young children. I know it will become a family favorite in your family as it has in mine. It is one of the few picture books I have kept on my shelf (I'm 14 now)because of how special it is; I could never give it up. I don't think anyone would be able to say anything bad about this book. It has amazing illustrations. They are super cute, colorful, and life-like. The story is about a teddy bear who awakens to find that his trousers have been misplaced. He goes around all day asking his friends if they have seen them. They all say the same thing- they were using them (for some very unique purposes) but when they were finished with them they let someone else use them. Finaly Little Bear catches up with his pants and it's worth the wait. If you decide to purchase this book pick up a couple more of Jane Hissey's Old Bear stories, you won't be dissapionted in any of them.

Our (hard copy) of, Little Bear's Trousers, has been read dozens of times! The illustrations are extraordinary, and the creative uses Little Bear's friends make of his trousers are inventive and practical! The story has a joyful ending wherein all the friends can celebrate not only the return of Little Bear's trousers but some time together enjoying a bit of cake. The ONLY complaint I would make about this book (and which was actually pointed out to me by my six 1/2 year old daughter) is that of the nine characters, only two are female. We, however, have rectified this situation by granting them a new sexual status virtually everytime we read this book. Both of my kids (one boy, one girl) adore this book and have for years. Highly recommeded!

This book captivates a sense of adventure and transformation from the `every day' life into the enchantment of what can be. Each chapter fits as almost complete stories, which allows the power of events to happen at a timely pace. Normally, I read several hundred pages, for this type of genre, in a few hours. Monk's and Motorcycles is the sort of book that lends itself to reading a chapter at time. The author's ideas leave `food for thought.' This book reflects a sincere person who's able to convey how his life is today as it stands, partly, on the `shoulders of the lessons learned in the time that this story takes place.

When I finished reading Franklin Huffman's travelogue--with a whole section of interesting pictures, albeit a bit faded and just black-and-white--the first thought that came to my mind was: It is hard these days to conceive of a young American traveling as freely through the world, particularly in Asia, as this author (also well-known linguist and accomplished diplomat) did in the fifties. All the more reason to do it vicariously, by reading it, chapter by chapter, one more interestig than the other, and enjoying funny happenings, cross-cultural misunderstandings, lessons in ethnolinguistics, and lots of geography--the last maybe more needed now than ever. The style is direct and highly accessible; the lessons are far-ranging and memorable. For the impatient reader: Each chapter can be read separately, like a short-story taking place in a different place.

Pinksta Parker opens her secret diary to the reader in this delightful fanciful tale related through amazing groupings of tongue twisting vocabulary in a fast moving narrative that tells of Pinsta's adventures with Princess Polka as they journey to the Land of Pink Power.

Thwarted on every hand by the Popeyed Pepper Punkers, Pinsta and Princess Polka are empowered by the Leopardess of Pink Pride to accomplish their mission of freeing the village girls to be allowed to attend school to gain knowledge and personal growth.

The story is a mixture of reality and fantasy as Pinksta desperately seeks the approval of her father. This tongue twister tale entertains the young and carries a message of the purpose of pursuit of empowerment for older girls.

The suggested games and extensive glossary of vocabulary words make this a book that will encourage and develop young readers. The book is a great resource tool for elementary classroom teachers, and contains a wealth of learning activities, games, and quizzes.

This book is pure enjoyment for parents, grandparents, and kids alike, as they read the tongue twisters, laugh, and learn together. This is great family time fun.

I bought this book for my daughter when she was just learning to read and she loved for me to read it to her. Now that she is reading, she still reads it on her own. I think boys or girls would love this book. The main character is a boy and that should make little boys identify with him. My daughter loves reading it anyway and it makes her giggle when he is running around in his underpants. The story is well written and encourages imagination with humor. It also touches on a part of every child's life, leaving clothes all over their room!

Make sure you do voices for all the different clothes when you read it aloud. The dialogue is snappy and the illustrations outrageous. This one's good for any kid up to ten.
