Crazy about Bing!

My 2 year old is crazy about Bing Bunny and the adorable Flop! The stories are so appropriate and appeal directly to the toddler mind; calling to attention all the things that toddlers' notice. The crisis concerning the loss of Flop in Bing Bed Time is especially important: one cannot go to bed without Flop! (or in our case, Dee). We plan to purchase all the books. Great quality and excellent illustrations!

I wish Bing were as popular in America as Barney is. These books are a hoot and my son just can't get enough of them. I checked all 8 out from the library and had to end up buying them.

Bing is a bunny who interacts with his stuffed animal Flop. The books show Bing learning colors, foods, potty training, etc., all in the course of a day.

Adults will enjoy the '60s vibe of the cars, houses and furniture in the books.

Maybe an animated Bing show in America will make these books as popular as they deserve to be.

We love the Bing Books!

The Bing Bunny books appeal to both my 4-year-old and my 1-year-old. They're simple in format and style but manage to ably relay the oh-so-important-for-kids message that it's okay to make mistakes. "Paint Day" is held together by the repeated refrain of, "Don't spill the water, Bing!" Of course, he does eventually spill that water, but it's okay - it's a Bing thing. In "Bing Gets Dressed", Bing labors to get himself all dressed and then wets his pants. It's a sweet and accepting message for little kids who do make mistakes and need to hear that these things happen. We all love Bing - one read and you just can't help it.

Captures childhood!

This is a wonderful toddler book that my 6 and 3 year old both enjoy. It captures childhood perfectly. The baby is all excited about the box he got for his birthday and has fun with the dog that happens to come in his birthday box. This is so true to life. I marvel every birthday how the kids are often more interested in the boxes than what's inside them. After reading this book, a large box arrived by UPS. My 3 year old asked me to cut arm holes and a hole where the face goes to make him a robot box, just like in the book. Wonderful!

I took this book out from the library based on the great pictures and I am so glad I did. My 2-year loves it (and so does my 8-year old)! It is magical in it's simplicity and really captures the sweet imagination and tenderness of early childhood.

Ms. Patricelli does a wonderful job of capturing the thoughts of toddlers and preschool age children. Her stories are adorable, and the artwork is well done. My daughter loves her books, and I don't mind reading them over and over again. This one is the first of her larger format books, as the rest are board books. I love when he climbs into the box! So cute!

My 2 year old LOVES all the Leslie Patricelli board books. He has almost all of them. However, I didn't like that this book wasn't a board book. So this means he can't sit and read/look at it by himself. The board books are perfect for little toddlers such as my son. He LOVES to read and be read to. The story is great and so are the illistrations. I just think it should have been a board book like the others. Leslie is a GREAT writer!!

I looked everywhere online to try to see pages of this baby book before I ordered it, but couldn't find a site anywhere to search inside. I had looked at so many baby books in book stores, at Babies R Us, WalMart, Target, etc... and hadn't found one that really seemed special. I ordered this one due to the great reviews (I was very nervous since I couldn't look inside first)and to my surprise, it is my favorite! While most baby books now have pastel pictures and words that you can barely see, this one is very brightly colored, easy to read with words in black, and the pictures and layout are darling. It has pages to record moments through the first five years, including pages for special artwork and class photos. I highly recommend this precious book.

This book is a shortened version of the TV episode, "Blue's Big Birthday." It's interactive, as well as has the clue game of, "What does Blue want for her birthday?" Like the show, it features Steve, Blue, and the gang, and introduces Blue's turtle, Turquoise--although Blue doesn't name her in the book.

NOT MUCH TO NOT LIKE ABOUT THIS ONE.

This is pure "Blues Clues," pure and simple. Blue is having a birthday and we are asked to give a hand. The format is like that of the excellent TV show. The art work is quite well done, the text simple and easy for the little ones to follow. This is a fun book to read with your preschooler. This entire series is quite good and I do recommend them quite highly.

Happy Birthday, Blue!

It's party-time for Blue --- it's her birthday! The "Blue's Clues" house is fully decorated, with plenty of balloons, confetti and more. We arrive just a little early, so we help to get everything ready for the party. And there's a game of Blue's Clues as well --- Blue needs a present.

This is a good story --- it's a lot like the TV show and the text is readable, but sufficiently complex that it should keep kids that are used to the level of the TV show engaged. Kids will also enjoy seeing Steve, Blue and all the fun party stuff.

LOVE IT!

I started reading "Boats" to my son when he was just a few months old. He is now 11 months, and since he was 8-9 months, he has grabbed "Boats" preferentially each night. Even when he is in a bad mood, the bold colors and simple shapes make him light up with a big grin! The variety of boats introduced, the simple illustrations and the multiethnic nature of the stick figures make this book a great find. I believe this will be a favorite for a long time.

My husband, who loves naval history, bought this book for our daughter when she was one year old. Since then, it has become one of her prized possessions. I've had to buy another copy, because she's spilled milk all over it and the pages have stuck solid.

The bright colors, dark print and overlapping scenarios keep her engrossed. Definitely a great book to have for your toddler.

I purchased this book in early June when my son, who was 16 months was just learning about boats. Having a difficult time finding age appropriate boat books for him, I decided on this one and haven't been disappointed. The pictures and drawings are very basic but we always seem to find lots of things to talk about. He loves this book and has created his own mannerisms for each page and picture. The size of the book is small like other board books and is perfect for little hands to hold and turn the pages. We have read this book some many times the binding is broken and the pages are getting worn. He refers to it as the boat book and just can't seem to get enough of it. I would highly recommend it for any child , you won't be disappointed. We are looking forward to trying some of his other books after the success we had with this one.

I suggest Amazon.com to reconsider their age rating for this book. Toddler to 3 years might be more approriate. This being said however, my toddler boy loves this book. He goes wild over the bright colors and big bright pictures. The great thing is that the book introduces one new boat per page while keeping the previous boat displayed in the background. This way the child is able to see what happens to the other boat while being introduced to a new one. The Text is easy and plain "here comes a rowing boat" style, leaving plenty of room to create ones own stories.
I recommend this book for small children.

"Boats," by Byron Barton, is a good book for beginning readers. Like others by this author, the book combines simple text with illustrations in Barton's trademark style: bright, solid colors and simplified, almost iconic figures.

Barton depicts a rowboat, sailboat, fire department boat, ferry, cruise ship, and other vessels. The boats are actually shown in action. A nice touch is that the passengers and crew are people of different colors and ethnic appearances. Sample text: "There goes a fishing boat out to sea." A colorful and educational book.

I have had my copy of this book for over 10 years now. My mother read it to my younger siblings and me when I was a tweenage girl. I pick it up and read it every few years and have also read it to my son. He thought it was great, too.

It's a great, old-fashioned fairytale set in today's world. Be warned - It is not an everyone gets along in the end story. The ending ends as it should with everyone getting exactly what they deserve. It makes you wish that there was a little book dragon looking over your shoulder.

I would recommend this book to adults and children alike. It has a moral message that a child as young as 4 or 5 would get but has enough levels to keep everyone entertained.

At 50 I'm still the fantasy freak in the house and found this book as enchanting and enjoyable as any I've read. My wife the murder mystery consumer was totally enthralled by the tale when searching for a diversion from her regular reading. We've both read the tale more than once and have made present to one of our nephews of a hard back version of the book, that's how much we liked it. When you finish reading this book you set it down with a feeling of satisfaction, that everything wrapped up quite nicely, and wonder if there will be another to follow.

I found this book as an adult, but I was totally enchanted, and it became the start of my collection of dragons. This rates with Anne McCaffrey's dragons--friendly dragons. This tale is so enjoyable, yet not predictable. Moral, but not preachy. And kids will love the good guy/bad guy tension.
This is a book every child (and most adults) should have the pleasure of having in their life.

"A Book Dragon" was the very first book I read geared towards fantasy and the mythical creatures we call dragons. I first read this book in grade 6 when everyone else was reading about babysitters or high school twins and it introduced me to a whole other world of mystery, magic and myths. In my mind this lovely tale about the last dragon of his kind who travlelled far and wide to discover the preciousness of the written word is a wonderful book for children and adults alike. It helps us realize that stories such as this and any other form of learning and expanding the mind are the teasure we should be stiving to protect. I adored this book as soon as I read it. I could not put it down. I have looked far and wide for a copy as it would be something I pass on to any future readers in my family.

A Book Dragon is a fabulously written story about a time in which dragons were as common as wolves are today--"Here there bee dragons." I first had this book read to me when I was in fourth grade and I absolutely loved it! I have been trying to find a copy of it for years. It is a story about a dragon named Nonesuch who becomes able to control his size. He finds treasure to guard in books. This is a wonderful story for all ages, and best if read aloud.

My kids are 4.5, the preschool cards were a little easy. the kindergarten cards are about right. Now usually with them I find the age ratings on toys are accurate, like other reviewers said the brainquest products are rated a little too old. Some of the concepts are beyond them but about 80% of the cards they are able to do at this age.

We've taken them on car trips, to the doctors office, shopping...just about anywhere. The kids think of it as a game, not as sitting down and learning. This is a great gift for someone as well.

After a recent visit to Bremen in Germany, and souvenir t-shirts for the grandkids, I decided to purchase copies of the "Bremen Town Musicians" as Christmas presents. I am very pleased with my purchase. I am impressed with the quality of English used, which would surely be of benefit to young ears. Also, the text included some lesser-used words such as 'hound, lute, minstrels', great for vocabulary building. Young minds absorb so much, so let us give them worthwhile things to soak up. The text also lends itself to reading aloud with lots of expression and drama, always enjoyed by children. The illustrations are simple but superb, plentiful and complements the text beautifully - a great help for young readers. I can't wait to read to them on Christmas Day!

This incident brought Stacey and Claudia together as friends again, Jeremy left behind, and Kristy Very disgusted! I won't tell you who the mystery guy was, only let you read it and be surprised, but I will tell you two more things, Claudia realizes Jeremy wasn't the guy of her dreams, but her "mystery guy" maybe is what her heart is really for......

Yes! Jeremy- the guy that ruined the friendship of Stacey and Claudia- is FINALLY out of the picture! In the last book he broke up with Stacey, and then in this book Claudia writes a note to him stating her true feelings and asking him to the dance, but she stuffs it into the wrong locker...

I won't tell you who the guy is, but it's definitely surprising... he showers Claud with gifts, if best friends with Kristy's "arch-enemy" and is the guy of Claudia's dreams...

A great book, and another good plot! I like this series a lot more than the baby-sitters club series.

This book provides basic, practical ideas for every parent. The ideas are not mind blowing or extreme, it just simply provides a different way of thinking about your child's development. My daughter was born 8 weeks premature, and her healthy, "normal" development is always on my mind. I have avoided buying books that state what a child should be doing by a certain age, simply because I know that her development may not follow the "normal" guidelines. Instead, I feel as though this book helps parents to focus on the basic building blocks (note the title) to healthy development, as opposed to stessing out because your child in not meeting certain milestones. The "back to basics" ideas really make sense. The book is extremely easy to follow, and there are real life illustrations of the techniques. I feel as though that being able to physically participate in my child's development truely empowers me as a parent. I've just started the techniques that the book details, and I have already seen results in my little girls development, and our personal bonding. I am very satisified with this purchase. I was looking for a different perspective (but not wacky) and I feel that is exactly what the author provides. Even if you are slightly curious you should make the purchase. There is a lot that can be gained from this book!

It's a great book full of simple, yet very useful information and advises. After reading it we actually bought the ply plastic mat she recommends and within a week or so our 4-month old boy started to crawls on the belly around himself! Moreover, he now enjoys being on his tummy and spends quite a lot of time on the floor. We also likes the deep pressure techniques, described there. I think this book is a must for any parent. It's con, however, that it doesn't give any scientific background behind the recommendations. So for me it wasn't a big deal since I'm PT myself and it all sounds very reasonable to me, but to others it might feel unsupported. So don't hesitate, it's a good science-backed approach and your baby would definitely benefit from it, spending more time with you on his tummy than being in all those high-end exersaucers/walkers/stationary entertainers.

A must read for new parents!

I am a pediatric physical therapist who has been blessed to know the author, Roxanne Small, for over 20 years. This book is the result of years of research and hands-on interaction with a multitude of children. It is a wonderful overview of appropriate activities for little ones - without using all of the unnecessary "bells and whistles" items that are being pushed on new parents. Each section of the book is brief but thorough, making it easy to understand and use.

Having put into practice the ideas in this book with all 4 of my own children as well as with my patients, I can attest to the fact that Roxanne's recommendations are useable in the real world and encourage appropriate development and a solid foundation.

Finally, I would like to respond to the reviewer who referred to the ideas in this book as "extreme." I can't even imagine how many hours Roxanne has spent with 4 - 6 month olds, with 3 children of her own and working in pediatrics for over 30 years. She makes it clear in the book that children may (and often do) desire to do things that are not what is best from a developmental perspective. Just because a child has "a fit," it does not mean that what he or she wants is good for them. (Think of playing with matches!)

I recommend this book for all new moms as well as anyone caring for infants. I have been a pediatric therapist for 30 years. Many babies who do not get adequate floor play with tummy time and belly crawling do not develop adequate tummy and back muscle strength. It can affect everything including learning ability, speech, and behavior. The techniques in the book are so logical and easy to follow. The title is perfect.
