In this enchanting tale endorsed by Dr. Laura Slessinger, a young boy named Chris wants to give up in the face of a challenge. He finds inspiration in a story shared by his father, and he grows as a result.

Told in buoyant verse, this story is an entertaining introduction to the idea that achieving begins with believing.

The father/son relationship is a special element of this story and is celebrated in the author's dedication: "[To my father] for the many loving lessons he spent his time teaching me."

Martin Cannon's vivid illustrations create a captivating setting for this delightful story.

Truly a quality production destined to be a modern classic.

The whimsical cover of this oversized book is a feast for the eyes and sure to captivate children before they even open the book. The story inside doesn't disappoint. Decorated with upbeat, brightly colored pictures, every page is lush and appealing. The oversized text and fun pictures bounce off the page, combining to address the issue of childhood fears and the importance of believing in yourself. The positive message of this charming book is perfect for kids of all ages.

A little girl named Treva tells her story wen she had trouble with trolls. She lives on the slopes of Mount Baldy and was hiking it to visit her cousin who lives on the other side. With her is her dog Tuffi. Trouble happens along the way as a troll will jump out and declare "I want dog"

She tricks them into taking pieces of her clothing but eventually she reaches the top and discovers they still want the dog. She declares she can fly with her skies but needs all her cloths back. She asks for a push but they can't since they are holding Tuffi. She offers to hold the dog and away she skis to the cries of "Dog, Dog, Dog!"

This is a fun little story and my little girl has taken to it. Probably because the artwork is very good!

There is also a small side story of a hedgehog who wanders into the home of the trolls.

This is a sweet well written and drawn story that will make for any child's bedtime reading. Be prepared to hand over the book so the pictures may be viewed.

Treva lives on the slopes of Mount Baldy. One day she goes to visit a relative on the other side. She will climb up with her dog and then ski down the other side. But on the way up she runs into the trolls. Each troll she meets is interested in her dog. Treva manages to trick each of them into taking some of her clothing instead (mittens, hat, sweater, boots). But just at the top the trolls decide they still want the dog. Treva has one more trick up her sleeve and winds up same with her dog and all of her clothing. The ultimate fate of the trolls is quite interesting.

This is a very nice story with an intelligent and quick-thinking protagonist. Troll legend has been change a little. There is no mention of the trolls wanting to eat the dog (a la Billy Goats Gruff) but instead to help warm them and act as a pack animal. Their fate is also one I am unfamiliar with. Many stories have trolls turn to stone in the sunlight but this transformation is quite interesting.

The illustrations are just what you expect from Jan Brett; beautiful and packed with detail. Earrings and hair ribbons should be paid attention to as well as the happy hedgehog who invades the trolls' home. A truly delightful story from an author who has written more stories about clothes than you can imagine (The Hat, The Mitten, Armadillo Rodeo, Etc).

WOW, don't hesitate, read this book

As parents, bibliophiles, and teachers, we are always on the lookout for good children's books and books with positive girl characters are always needed. This one is fabulous. Treva is smart, creative, courageous, loving, strong, competent and clever. This is exactly the kind of child that we would want our 2 1/2 year old son to be exposed to. It's a fun adventure story that shows how a child can be creative and use their imagination and other intellectual abilities to problem solve and come up with a plan in a tough situation (without resorting to physical force) and then use their physical and creative skills in executing their plan. The last few sentences of the book also add a more abstract, creative idea that expands the depth of the book depending on the age and abilities of the child who's hearing the story. The illustrations are well done - they're good and easy to follow and help the child to understand the story, They also provide additional details and threads for the child to explore. And, something I'm always on the lookout for, it was a great alternative troll story. On the chance that most of his fellow schoolmates would be talking about pirates, superheroes, fairy tale characters and such, I didn't want my son to have no idea what others were referring to simply because we tended to avoid such stories because they tend to be completely objectionable in terms of their values and characters. So, I'm always on the lookout for good alternatives, and this was a very positive way to introduce him to a troll. (As a side note, a good alternative for superheroes is "Max" by Bob Grahm; for pirates try "Pirate Pete", "Edward and the Pirates" and "Pirate Pink"; and there are many fractured fairy tales which are clear winners over the traditional sexist, violent, etc fairy tales, e.g. "The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig", "Wolf" by Becky Bloom, "The Big Bad Wolf is Good", "The Emperor [Penguin] has no clothes", and on video - CinderElmo - where Elmo goes to the Princesses ball). This was my first exposure to Jan Brett and I'm looking forward to more books.

I read Mary's book in response to a suggestion from a friend. I plan on creating a distribution chain based out of South America obtaining ophthalmic and optometric diagnostic equipment which is to be manufactured in China. As many of you know due diligence is the key to launching a tennable startup and I found Mary's book to be helpful in putting a name and face to my largest customer base, which is of course the boomer generation. Mary is able to effectively describe this all too often over looked demographic in a manner that is both informative and entertaining. Her insight on the subject matter is profound. After researching her qualifications and past business ventures this comes as no surprise. Throughout the chapters business oppurtunities are explored with exellent case studies presented as guiding lights. I recomend this book to anyone who is planing on understanding and consequently captializing on this limitless demographic.

It explodes with ideas that inspired me to expand my vision of my business and its mission. Dr. Mary Furlong provides specific companies -both large and small, links, and steps that had me immediately clicking, reading and signing on to be able to meet the industry innovators at her "What's Next Boomer Summit".

Glad I read the book, thrilled I attended the Summit.

I know this will sound funny, but here goes anyway....

I have four sons, ages 17, 14, 13 and 6. I first got this as a cassette when my first son was born in 1987. I started playing it as I nursed him at bedtime. It became a routine to play the tape for him each night at bedtime, alternating sides. He always settled right in to bed, wherever he was he always felt at home, comforted.

For each of the teenage boys, I did the same... thankful my cassette managed to last (prior to internet days). Now I have my six year old, and believe it or not, all three of the older boys actually sing the songs to and with him, and sometimes linger in the hallways to catch their favorite song at bedtime! They fondly remember the day when I tucked them in an pressed play.... Was it the singing night? or the music night? is a common guessing game we play. You know that this is an awesome tape when it's instrumental night and your six year old sings each and every word on cue as he drifts off to sleep!!! He even sings when he has his buddies spend the night for a sleepover - no embarassment whatsoever.

We are so thankful to the person who gave it to us so many years ago. I'm now ordering it as a CD, knowing that someday not so far off, I'll be Grandma....with the lullabye disc!

I can't even put it into words. We enjoyed this tape so much when my son was a baby! I hear the music now and it brings tears to my eyes. I would sit for hours, rocking him to this music and the songs are so beautiful. Whenever I have to buy a gift for a baby shower, I always buy this cassette because it's loved by everyone who receives it. Go out and get this tape immediately, I promise, you won't be sorry!

Wonderful! Play it again, Sam!

I'm surprised we didn't wear out this tape! My son is now 12 and we played this, together with classical music, for the first several years of his life! Very sweet - easy to sing along with, catchy tunes. I really missed it when we misplaced it - and just bought another for his Christmas stocking! BTW - he now has a very good ear for music.

I bought this tape and booklet in 1998 when I had my first child. I am purchasing another now for my second child, because we played the other one so many times we wore it out. All of the songs are very soothing and easy to listen to. I love to listen to the instrumental side and sing to my babies too. This is one of the best children's tape we own.

This is a MUST HAVE book for any toddler.

The colors are bright and the illustrations are funny. This alone keeps my son's attention. The repitions make it easy for my son to remember and help me "read" the book.

Sometimes we play this as a game at the park. My son will start 'hopping' like a bunny and I'll tell him to hop like a kangaroo, horse and fish. He'll stop and say "nooooo, fish hop". I think it's fun and so does he.

I loved using "Who Hops" in my first grade classroom where the children delighted at the silly pictures and the simple text was perfect for their emerging reading skills. Now that I am a mother of a one year old I have fallen in love with this book all over again. My little guy thrills at the bold bright illustrations and the text is fast paced enough to hold his attention through several readings. This book is an all time favorite of mine and a must for any little person's library!

My 18-month old carries this book around with him during the day. The photos keep him busy and he loves turning the pages.

There really isn't a story to the book. Just animal noises. Fun to read and I've heard him practicing the noises when he looks at the book himself.

Cute book. I'm glad I bought it.

My 7 month old grandson loves this book! The real photographs are extremely appealing. There is just enough text for his attention span. He loves to turn the pages and looks at each picture intently. He has dogs (both real and stuffed) of his own and has really been interested in the dog in the picture. The size of the book is perfect for his hands. We have only had this book 3 days, and he wants to read it over and over; I think I've read it about 25 times already!

I am a librarian for my church library. I'm always looking for a good book at a reasonable price. Amazon.com helps me meet my budget. We opened the use of the church library this October to the day care located in out church. "Who says Quack?" is a great addition to the children's portion of our library! The pictures are cute (I am a sucker for duckies) and the size is easy for small hands to hold. It probably will hold up to some teeth chewing on the cover, not to my joy though. I would have preferred the pudgy book to have been a little larger for ease in processing for library identification. It would have been nice to see more inside the book before purchasing too. I cannot complain about shipping; the book arrived in a reasonable time span.

It's like a friend giving you a good piece of advice every day! You and your baby will love it!

The book includes information and activities appropriate for each week of a baby's life, up to age 24 weeks. It also has great bold illustrations for each week that are fascinating to babies - very handy for baby's visual stimulation. The book is very pro-baby, pro-hands on bonding, pro-parent/baby interaction. This would be a great gift for any expectant or new mom/dad to give her/him tangible suggestions on what to do with baby to make the most of their relationship and to optimize baby's development. This book is simply wonderful!

Babies -- there is so much for them to experience and learn! And there is nothing they enjoy more than spending time with those who love them! Where can you find information to help make the most of your baby's first 6 months -- a most important time of their lives?

The book, "Baby Be Loved," by Susan Ann Stelfox, will help you do just that! This ingenius book contains ideas, activities, and helpful information for each day of your baby's life, from birth to the 24th week. You'll find developmental milestones, exercises, games, songs and other inspirational ideas for bonding with your baby. In addition, each week of the book displays a baby-friendly image that will help stimulate your baby's developing vision.

MyParenTime.com highly recommends this book -- how I wish it was available when I was a new mom :). The spiral bound book is made so it can hang like a calendar, which makes it very accessible for quick glances of information. Most new parents don't have time to read standard parenting books to find a great daily idea or suggestion. This book helps solve that problem by allowing information to be found quickly and easily. What a perfect way to leave more time for treasuring those special moments with your new baby :).

This is one of three books my 11.5 month old daughter will pick off of her book shelf. I make this book very interactive by tickling her toes, clapping her hands, etc. based on what the babies are doing in the book.

My older son also loved this book when he was younger. We used the opening page which has multiple pictures to teach him the related words (dog, cat, ball, shoes) when he was around 1.5 years.

What a smart book!

This is a great baby book! I wish I had it for my first. The one thing I thought it didn't have when I first looked through was a page for the baby's first handprint/footprint so we didn't have our son's put in. But it does, it's just not where I would have put the page. Besides that small thing, the book is wonderful and well thought out. It gives you lots of different questions to fill in that you would never think of on your own. I would highly recommend it.

I love this baby book because it allows you to record milestones and memories without asking for every little minute detail that you really wouldn't want to know 20 years from now (what time and date was baby's first B.M....stuff like that) that some baby books ask. It is good for either a girl or a boy and since we didn't know until our son was born that he was a boy this was key for me. There are pockets to put in all the stuff you want to save (hospital bracelet, ultrasound picture..etc) and it also goes up to 5 years instead of stopping at just 1. It does not have a month to month picture and update section so if that is what you are looking for this is not the baby book for you.

4 years later and I'm buying another one

I spent a LOT of time looking for the right memory book for my daughter when she was born. I started to look around for a different one for the son I am expecting next month, and decided to go with this one again. The second one will feel cheated out of enough as it is; but at least I can give him the same quality memory book - provided I keep up with it! But as my daughter approaches 5, I'm so glad that I did continue to fill in hers. It is a wonderful keepsake - and incentive to print out at least a few of the 1000s of digital photos.

I was delighted with all the different pages. Seems to have a place for almost everything. The monthly photo section is my favorite I think. The book is made very well and should hold up for years and years. My only complaint is that I wish it had more envelopes to tuck small keepsakes in. But it shouldn't be a problems for me to add more in. This is still the best Baby's book you can get for this price. And I spent long hours hunting for the perfect one.

I am happy with this book. It has dividers for each section, it has pockets for storing things. It really is detailed for recording all the "firsts". It has a page for each month and then 'milestones and achievements' for 1-2, 2-3, 3-4, 4-5. It has milestones such as first scribbles, uses own name, turns pages one by one, points to pictures in a book. For having our first child it has covered practically everything that I wouldn't know to record. I have two books (this one I bought and the other was a gift). This is much more detailed than the other so it depends on what you are looking for. Also, the other book I have is more cute-sy and refers to parents as Mommy and Daddy. This book refers to parents as Mother & Father as well as Mommy and Daddy, Mom and Dad. For instance it says "Mom's Page" but then it says "Mother's full name." I like it better in that regard. Bottom line, I'd buy it again.

This is a lovely book, fantastic illustrations and a wonderful theme throughout. "Where are you going bear, please wait for me". Follow the bear and the boy through different places real and imagined. Suitable for 12 months - 3 year olds.

Another great book from Barefoot

After reading it a few times to my son, I was surprised to hear him reciting the rhyme text back to me. We enjoy reading it together. The text is very simple but is perfect for a toddler. We learn names of different fruits, vegetables, and animals, as well as different ways of traveling. As all the Barefoot books he has, he loves it.

I like it even my kid

The illustrations are absolutely fantastic! they are beyond vivid its truly a feast for the eyes!
The story is simple and cause the illustrations are so perfectly done for a toddler it's very self-explanatory, Bear is traveling through the entire story on different means of transportation he goes to an island on a boat, to the market on bike, to a grand ball in a carriage and through the story the little boy is trying to keep up with bear but he just keeps missing "the boat" so to say. It's a very fun rhyming journey to introduce to little ones! This is our favorite of Stella Blackstone's Bear series its by far her best book!
