and I highly recommend it.

This book is an absolute "Must" for any sailor or history buff. For landlubbers this is an affectionate account of the beauty
and strength of the sea, the men and women who protect our shores and the surprisingly rich but (until now) overlooked history
of The Eagle.
The book combines a hard-core sailing voyage with lyrical history; most touching is Drumm's account of Eagle's return to present-day Germany, where the young boys recruited by Hitler's Germany - now old men - reboard their beloved ship and meet today's young crew.

Anyone who is at all interested in American history should read this book. (You will note, upon reading it, that congress
apparently has not changed much at all since our Nation's first breath.) Mr. Boylan does not attempt to excuse Arnold's behavior
towards the end of his career in the American army; he merely portrays the whole picture of who Benedict Arnold was, his role
as no doubt one of the greatest soldiers on either side during the Revolution, and describes the events leading up to Arnold's
turning away from this new Nation, from which you can easily draw your own conclusions.
This book has recorded incredible, action-packed events during that time, many events that have rarely, if ever, been given even honorable mention in the typical history books we are dully schooled from today. It is a refreshing change from the all-too-pat versions typically presented both on screen and in print about Benedict Arnold. This book, in my estimation, should be a required read for all students in high school and/or college courses in American history.
If adhered to, this book's depiction of Benedict Arnold's colorful and amazing life would make one memorable, first rate movie. And it would be about time this man were truly given a long overdue, fair presentation (on the big screen) of his valor, fighting skills, determination, sacrifices, and yes, dedication to a cause - until events made him rethink his position entirely.
His political incorrectness with congress was perhaps his greatest undoing - a recurring theme we often find with many a great warrior in history.
Boylan has managed to capture the spirit of this much maligned American hero turned 'traitor'. I was drawn to read this book after wading through 'A Rabble in Arms', which also gives quite a bit of credit to Benedict Arnold in the war effort. 'The Dark Eagle' is perhaps one of the most important books, as an American, I have ever read.

This is #353 in the Executioner/Mack Bolan series and concerns the Black Death from the 14th century being revisited to contemporary innocent victims.
The action moves from France to Australia to America, on the eastern seaboard in the vicinity of Boston. Bolan is confronted with a paramilitary group of monks, with 40 monks in particular that will be sent out 1 at a time to spread the killing virus. For 1 year, 1 month, and 1 day, the killing will continue before the antidote is provided the world.
Can Mack Bolan ( Matt Cooper) keep these crazed monks from doing their destructive work? Only by reading this latest GOLD EAGLE book will you be able to find out.
Not only great reading but very thought provoking as well.

a beautiful book with a message -- Eagles forget how to fly and they begin to collect things, build shelters, therefore causing
wealth and theft. One young eagle, Bravara, learns from his grandfather eagle that eagles used to fly. When Bravara tries
to fly he is scared. the magpies who teach him to fly tell him -"flights are made with wings not thoughts." a good story
for readers who have been reading for a couple years -- and also for adults. 43 pages with text (approx 3 paragraphs per
page) and colored drawings

INDIAN ACCOUNT OF FETTERMAN MASSACRE

It's common today to call Fetterman's mistake a 'fight' rather than a massacre, but since I am from the 'old school' of plains
history it is a massacre to me.
This book has a couple excellent color maps and many, many colorful drawings that embellish the text to produce a very readable book. Though this is listed as juvenile literature, any reader can enjoy its content. The University of Nebraska Press: Lincoln must have had similiar feelings when they reprinted this book, which was originally printed in 1972.
The author has also issued several other volumes on the plains Indians and whether for your child, yourself, of both time spent with these small books is time well spent, indeed.

Call Of The Pines by William V. Reynolds is an attention compelling novel based upon the stories of author's father's life.
Set amid the terrible poverty of the Great Depression, Call Of The Pines tells of Henry, a young man in an era when work was
scarce and the best way to see the country was simply to ride the rails. Tributes to folk legend, hardship, excitement, adventures,
and the search to find oneself are all contained in this engrossing and deftly written saga.

This book provides an opportunity for the reader to deeply explore the meanings and messages left behind by the creators of
the Mapa de Cuautinchan. The map contains an amazing wealth of information about the religion, culture, and history of the
former inhabitants of the Cuautinchan area. The reader is free to study the map through various high-quality color illustrations
as well as a pull-out larger version of the map that provides excellent detail.
The essays in the book offer academic analysis of different aspects of the map, ranging from the mythological aspects illustrated in the map to the significance of the horticulture depicted along the journey. However, the essays are both accessible and engaging, even for someone with no experience in the fields archeology or anthropology (like myself).
I would recommend this book to anyone with an interest in Mesoamerican cultures. The book is interesting, accessible, and fascinating to look at! I've spent hours myself looking at the map and discovering something new every time. Additionally, this book could make a great gift for anyone interested in Mesoamerican history, mythology, or archeology.

I must say I am a great fan of the series and I hesitantly give this book 5 stars since it didn't resonate with me as much
as the previous 2 books. However, you still get to witness the solid action of Jake Strait, who's hard drinking and amazing
action is a mere sideshow to his own personal discoveries. It does skew to a more mystic side then the previous books, however
the ideas of relgion it presents are simple a must read to those who are a fan of the human condition.
Of course you don't have to read the previous two books, but you would certainly be missing out on a segment of the plot, but more importantly on the moral history of the man himself, Jack Strait. Thank you.
