Here are the first comic plays written in America. Originally published in 1798, they were probably written in the 1770's. Both The Patriot and The Candidates provide fascinating first hand insights into early American culture, and commentary on basic issues of government which is still as relevant today as it was duriong the revolution.

The Pariot focuses on the question of what true loyalty to one's country requires in wartime. Situated in the midst of the revolution, two true patriots - accused of Toryism - face a crowd of overzealous simpletons, hypocrites, secret tories, and men who use the war for personal gain. Will the patriots receive justice in such hands? Will their patriotism be rewarded or will they be ostracized?

The Candidates describes a Virginia election for the House of Burgesses in the early 1770's, and was intended to mock corrupt candidates who attempted to gain voted they do not deserve. Munford pits two noble candidates against vain men, drunkards, and simple minded fools who dare to run for office. Find out what the electorate thinks of theses candidates!

I picked up a co-workers copy of this poetry collection and was first caught up by the wonderful photography accompanying the poems. Inspired by the images, I began reading bits and pieces of the collection. Someone like myself who has grown up with inseparable ties to the Kansas ranching industry will immediately recognize the scenes portrayed by the various poets. From the ever-trustworthy cowdog, the beauty of the undisturbed range, and cantankerous horses and cattle to the realistic portraits of the men and women who've made these things their life, this book brings back fond memories of people and events I know and have known. I am eagerly awaiting my own copy of "Prairie Poetry: Cowboy Verse of Kansas." All of the authors included have ties to Kansas, whether by birth, by choice, or both. Any enthusiast of cowboy poetry and ballads should consider adding this volume to their collection.

Here we go with GOLD EAGLE #341 of Striker's adventures; been with him through many episodes for 20 years. This one is as good as any of em.

Mack Bolan must search out encrypted documents giving intel on financial networks of terrorist groups including nuclear devices. In doing the mission he is inserted behind lines into both Grozny and Chechnya. Leave it to Colonel Phoenix to always be on site dealing with today's or tomorrow's headlines.

He is also searching for a missing U.S. undercover agent having to encounter numerous thugs attempting to thwart his efforts. Along the way finding a certain lap top computer is in order, also. And just who is this agent, Sable and how does she fit into the picture? And why is Amy Tan called a dupe? Car chases, fire fights with bullets buzzing, Jack Grimaldi near death, and an angry copter in the sky, all leads to one of toughest missions Bolan has ever experienced.

In this venture on both sides there are as usual no rules, last one alive and shooting, wins. In such a world you just don't know who to trust. So load up your Glock 17 and your borrowed AKS-74 from someone you just killed, and look carefully ahead as you proceed in this adventure with Mack Bolan. Live large.

What a great continuance of the journey of this priest, learning of native american spirituality. This text takes us down the intriguing paths of divine circumstance. The medicine man, Flying Eagle sends this priest, Screaming Hawk to places he once had not chosen to go and learn deeply about his own spirituality. Becoming a warrior is much different than he had imagined. There are so many parallels to Christianity. This book is a must for those who search outside themselves for meaning. Meaning is nearer than you may think.

Season of Slaughter may not be considered a horror novel to many, but an action novel with big guns and fights and all that kind of stuff that action novels are famous for, but to me I see a real horror in the book. Season of Slaughter deals with terrorism at its highest level, and when I mean highest level, you're talking about the deaths of hundreds of innocents.

It all starts out when two men known as Dark and Adonis attack and airport. Two men-only these two men-kill thousands, one slaughtering people on the main floor of the airport while the other is blowing up planes. When Stony Farm-an elite military force-is called in to try to stop them, one of the men ends up seriously injured and in the hospital.

Mack Bolan is pissed.

Mack Bolan is the main character of the novel, and he will stop at nothing to avenge the friend that was put in the hospital and the hundreds of people that were killed in one single night. He has every reason to take down this terrorist faction, and he will spare no mercy to anyone who gets in his way.

Doug Wojtowicz, the ghostwriter for this novel (and several others, mind you,) knows how to anti up the suspense just when he needs to. It's a book that you won't want to stop reading, and even if you're not a big action fan, this one will make you change your mind about the genre. I wasn't all that big for action, but he knows how to do it well. I highly recommend Season of Slaughter for anybody who wants a good horror/action read.

(Note: It shows the author as Don Pendleton, but it is ghostwritten by Doug Wojtowicz.)

The story of a young Plains Indian who traveled to Europe in Buffalo Bill's Wild West Rodeo, this book is extraordinary and moving. The story is fun, but it is the illustrations that bring this book to the level of genuine art: the pictures are completely magical. This book transformed my day after reading it: I felt renewed by it's beauty and innocence.
